I guess it all depends on how you calculate your "pair"
A pair of socks = 2 socks
A pair of shoes = 2 shoes
~~~~BUT~~~
A pair of glasses = 1 unit
A pair of jeans = 1 unit
It could be argued that a "pair" of twins = 2 people
