Why does one find it so important to be chosen 'best answer' that they resort to cheating - such as multiple profiles, voting for self when asker doesn't vote, etc. I was curious and checked this out. Most of her best answers were voted by herself. (best answer chosen by voter(s). This person seems intelligent enough. What could be motivating her? I don't care if she cheats. It's not stealing from me. I just find it very curious and don't understand the point. Pardon the pun. lol!

Right, we win nothing so why does it matter to her? Interesting.

Yes, I do think that Mr. There's nothing wrong with my natural curiosity.

This was not meant to be one of the world's 'heaviest' questions. I just thought it would be interesting to see what people would think of it.

PTL! I can't use your name, let's just say it's metal : ) At last! An intelligent person who knows what I'm talking about. Answers is good to pass the time or to combat insomnia and can be fun but, it's wearing thin on me too. re points. Who cares, right? Person I'm talking about is mean and nasty though. I guess that made me notice her and check her out.

yes there are those that go to extreme lengths to get to the top o the heap. downright crazy. i have a whole lot of time on my hands and for a while spent many hours on this site, far, far too many hours. i'm now level five and have slacked off quite a bit. one of the things that slowed me down was watching one of the top participants collect 10s of thousands of points in the time i collected 100s of points. 10s of thousands! over 100,000 at this time. at that time i realized i would have to create multiple accounts and network them all together, etc.

i first became aware of serious point gaming when i found a guy with well over 50%. a ridiculous figure. curious i started looking into it. it was immediately obvious that this was a scam. this guy was pretty blatant and i think he must have gotten booted or changed tactics. it was like he was talking to himself, asking a question and then answering it with a different account and always choosing the same answerer. if you looked at his best answers the questions were always from the same 6 accounts.

the top guy on the current leader board has 58% best answers, a ludicrous figure as most average 5% - 10%. his trick is stock answers, and of course self-promotion.

it's a sickness this need to succeed. a serious neurosis complicated by some sort of OCD.

As much as I feel rigid and unfair saying this, I cannot accept my partner having a strong emotional bond with someone else. This occurred in my last relationship and I hated it. It felt like someone had ripped my heart out - it's cheating to me and it will always be cheating. If you bond with someone (or at least if you bond with me or someone like me, lol), if you choose them to be your mate, you do not form the exact same type of bond with someone else, keep yourself from having sex with them and pretend that you're not cheating. No, no, no. I actually think that often people who do this are kidding themselves and basically just want a deep relationship with two people and don't mind only having sex with one of them for the time being. I don't put too much emphasis on sex in a relationship, so any kind of emotional cheating means everything to me. A partner having good friends and so on is healthy, but once one or more of those 'friendships' escalates into a strong emotional bond that easily equals the bond of your love relationship, something is not right. There is also the high possibility that a person forming an strong emotional bond with someone other than their partner is simply not having sex with them because they're 'in a relationship', and if that relationship ends, on comes the sex (which, in my case, is EXACTLY what happened). If I was legally married to this person my opinion would probably only be intensified. I'm open about a lot of things but when it comes to this I cannot stand it. And there is a chance I will end up alone forever because of it. I know this, but I know I will have trouble ever accepting anything less than everything when it comes to true love. Venus in Aries, Female Venus conjunct Jupiter, sextile Chiron, trine Ascendant, square Neptune (surprised?)

Some people feel as if they need to "beat the system." Personally I come on here to enjoy myself; I couldn't be bothered with my limited time to vote for myself and set up other identities. People feel as they are getting something for nothing if they cheat. It is a type of emotional disturbance or illness.

I don't know who you are talking about but now you have me real curious.

How can one choose best answe for themself? I thought you can't do that. I don't know if it would be an emotional disturbance, maybe. I mean if someone has to cheat to get best answer maybe that person doesn't have enough self-esteem to thik they will be picked........? Personally I think it would be stupid being we aren't gaining anything from points, were are here to learn and teach and have fun. My answer would be ISSUES.

I don't see choosing your own answer as "best answer", ONE VOTE, as cheating. If you were running for office, wouldn't you vote for yourself? I have enough faith in my answers that I'd like to see them as the first answer seen.

Multiple IDs though....must have far too much time on her hands; I'm sure there are rules against it.

I'm currently at 37% best answers. I only answer things I know a bit about, use sources, and don't answer ones where there are already many answers.

People cheat in school to get better grades. They think that people will respect them more, that they'll somehow get ahead in something that way. What they don't realize is that the grades are useless without the knowledge to go with them. Cheating in Answers amounts to the same thing. It's just that its uselessness is more obvious to more people.

It really doesn't matter what the reason although I doubt if it's emotional. It's her EGO...Cheat on answers? It does not bother me.
