Hi Sara,
Let me see . . . .
There's no way for me to tell. You know what? I am thinking that it is a tree that we are not familliar with. And it's fruit, not like any other fruit we know.
I have some experience in fruit trees, and the main family that stands out is the Rose family. In it are: Apples, pears, plums, apricots, peaches, nectarines, and even almonds. Strawberries and Loquat, blackberries and raspberries as well. So if I had to make a wild guess, I would say that if it was related to anything on this Earth, I would choose the Rose family or Rosaceae.
The Fig family or Moraceae, has Mulberry and Breadfruit to their credit.
I guess that means we'll have to find out later!

When the Bible refers to the Fig tree it is referring to Israel. I understand that figs do not grow in that part of the world. I really don't know what kind of tree it was. The fig tree is blossoming is referring to the Jews returning to their home. Great-Grandmother Mary

I've heard answers on both sides of this and finally decided that I just don't know. Jesus did seem to have much to say about the fig tree, but I don't think there's any way to determine it as even probably.

There is no specific reference to what specific type of tree the "Tree of Life" or the "Tree of knowledge of good and evil" were. Most typical stories place this as an apple tree, but the real fruit is not known, and any ideas are supposition without basis.

For those who said that the tree was not mentioned in the Bible, you need to study alot more.
The Bible does not say what kind of tree it was, but it does mention specifically the tree of life, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (By the way, they are two seperate things. Many people think that they are diferent names for the same thing.)
Genesis 2:
8 Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. 9 And the LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:
15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

There were figs trees there but it wasn't the tree of life.
1 Then God commanded the cherub, who kept the gate of the garden with a sword of fire in his hand, to take some of the fruit of the fig-tree, and to give it to Adam.
2 The cherub obeyed the command of the Lord God, and went into the garden and brought two figs on two twigs, each fig hanging to its leaf; they were from two of the trees among which Adam and Eve hid themselves when God went to walk in the garden, and the Word of God came to Adam and Eve and said to them, "Adam, Adam, where are you?"
3 And Adam answered, "O God, here I am. When I heard the sound of You and Your voice, I hid myself, because I am naked."
4 Then the cherub took two figs and brought them to Adam and Eve. But he threw them to them from a distance; for they might not come near the cherub by reason of their flesh, that could not come near the fire.
5 At first, angels trembled at the presence of Adam and were afraid of him. But now Adam trembled before the angels and was afraid of them.
6 Then Adam came closer and took one fig, and Eve also came in turn and took the other.
7 And as they took them up in their hands, they looked at them, and knew they were from the trees among which they had hidden themselves.
I think it could have been quints on the tree of life. It's a fruit that looks like a pear but bitter and like eating wood.

Maybe.
Most people incorrectly assume that it's an apple. But apples don't grow in that area. It is believed by some to be a pomegranete, and others have no idea but it would make the most sense to be something that is native to that area.
