The problem is that you're looking at a DIET, something that will take you to a goal.
What you need to think about is a LIFESTYLE change.
Think about it-- to get into shape, you're asked to change your food habits, and set aside a chunk of every day for exercise. You are also asked to start thinking differently about yourself. Gosh, that's as much as most people go through when they change RELIGIONS!!!
I have a friend who lost 50% of her weight so far, 150 pounds. Another has lost about 65 pounds. In both cases, they made serious lifestyle changes. In both cases, the ended miserable marriages as part of the process and entered into counseling.
They also changed their eating habits, not to something that they thought they had to do until they lost weight, but to eating habits that they'll do until they die.
In both cases they also started exercising more as well, which not only burns off calories, but also makes you happier.
Sooo... stop thinking about a diet as something you gotta do until you lose weight, but rather, think about life changes that you can live with that will keep your weight were you want it to be.

Take it from me. I share you story. I've been very overweight most of my life. Sometimes I take it off, and then a year or two later, there it is again. I've tried many diets and programs. I finally figured out the key.
No matter which diets you do, the weight will always come back unless you fundamentally change your way of eating, forever!
I wish I could underline and Bold the above paragraph!!!! Engrave it into your mind.
Right now I'm on Jenny Craig. It's a good plan and I'm losing again. But I know that after I'm done with the losing, I have to go on a new life long diet that's built around healthy eating. It's going to require constant vigilance to avoid slipping back into bad habits, namely deriving most of my nutrition through fast food. I think that will be more challenging than losing the weight.

Stay with it.. Its alright to stray a little but do not let it be a habit. I keep water with me at all times. Eat smaller meals and walk. Do not let yourself be overwhelm with all of it though. Start out by keeping water with you. Do not feel its a chore to diet. Then bring little snacks with you like carrot sticks and fat free ranch or an apple for a snack. Don't look for that parking space so close up to the door. Park out in the parking lot. Baby steps can give you big push you need! If you eat a snickers bar then dont punish yourself. Enjoy it.. but then drink water with it and go take a walk. You can do it and find a diet buddy to encourage each other!! Good luck :o)

Determine how many calories you need in a day. I limited myself to 1,000 calories, when on a diet. Get a booklet telling how many calories there are in foods. Sometimes you can get them at a checkout counter in a store. I eat anything I want, at any time of the day, just don't go over the limit of calories.
Good to exercise if you can. I am not an exercise person. Good luck.

I had success with Weight Watchers. I just try to be real about it. I feel good when I eat healthy. Fatty foods give me heartburn, so I avoid them. I feel bloated and gross when I over eat. It has to be for life. Make the right changes. Don't beat yourself up when you slip, get back on track.

Count your calories. Aim for 1500 calories a day. Get used to being hungry. Exercise.
If you aren't tough enough to do this, you won't lose weight.
