Deffinately take him to the vet for this one. And if he perfers laying down to drink water, then thats fine. Don't worry about it.

But take him to the vet for the shaking. It could be a nervious system disorder, or it could be seizures, both of which your vet should know how to treat.

Your best venue is to call your vet - the one who diagnosed your cat - and ask him again:
1) what si wrong with your cat (medical name of the affliction)
2) is there a cure?
3) what special care would this cat need?
4) could it get worse?
5) what do you need to watch out for (tremors, fits, etc) and any first aid you need to administer

That sort of thing.

The vet will only be too happy to give you the information you need to have for the proper care of your special-needs cat.

You should be asking these questions to your vet, not on here since he has seen the kitty and we haven't. If your vet has told you what it is then he needs to educate you on the symptoms and problems that kitty is going to have and he should be the one to tell you what to do for your kitty...

Call your vet....and if the kitty is suffering in any way something needs to be done to help him.

This sounds like a neurological disorder. You may not be able to do anything about it. Take it back to the vet for a proper educated answer.

No idea. Call the vet again.

My cat did something like that where she shook, puked, and then passed out while she was eating. Turns out she was clogged in the butt and needed an enima. Too fat to clean her fat&**&^

If you smoke dope, weed don't let your cat smell it.
and be very careful where you hide the meth pills or cocaine...
cause if the cat eat it, he will develop a shaky situation
