take the following precaution to help keep your credit safe.

you can call Transunion, Equifax and Experian yourself to put on a credit freeze FOR FREE, you can do it by going thru an automated system w/ all 3 bureaus. It should not take too long. The "Hawk-alert" that's what they called, will stay on for a year. By having a hawk alert on your credit will disable other people from using your information to open new credit line. Basically the credit card company will have to call and speak w/ you in person before granting any credit, so if it's not you, no credit will be granted.

You can find phone # for all 3 bureaus via the internet. You can also request a free copy of your credit report as well to see if you have any accounts that you don't recognized. I was a victim of identity theft 5 yrs ago so I took the same precautions.

Best wishes!

You can contact the 3 credit bureau's and let them know that as of such and such a date that this happened, it also would not hurt to notify social security (this way they can put a flag next to your name as a possible stolen identity) I don't know foresure if this will help, but it is the best sources to contact. Good Luck...

Very sorry to hear that. There are several types of ID theft so it's sort of hard to safeguard them all (medcal, financial, character, criminal, etc.). Check out the identity theft information for the best solution available in America.

the only thing that you can do is to contact all three of the credit places and tell them to put a flag on your credit. It will last for 3 months, and the credit companies have to have your permission to give out any credit at all. You can do it on line if you look up the credit places...
