why is music and dancing so bad?i understand that some songs are really disrespectful and talk about bad things, but not all music is like that.and isnt dancing just an action like playing a sport? i understand why freak dancing is considered imoral but what about the other types?im having a really hard time understanding this because i really want to have a deeper relationship with God but i just cant seem to agree with some of the christian teachings.

I use to have the same question a long time ago. I finally figure out why some christian thinks dancing is inappropriate or immoral. It's because freak dance leads to sexual desire and lust. It's all about trying to get away from something that will put you down or tempt you to do sinful things.
I personally don't think it's bad to dance. In fact, I love dancing. God doesn't mind if you dance for fun or for him. He does mind if the dancing lead you to thinking about sinful things. That is why most christian are against clubbing and dancing because they know it will lead people to do many bad things.
If you are able to control, then I think you'll be fine. Dancing is not wrong but freak dancing is.

That is all religion, not the Word of God. Find another church, that is a different denomination. You showed that you know good music and dancing from bad music and dancing. God loves when you sing and dance to Him. Not all Christians believe that, and that type of religion makes ALL Christians look like "crazies." Get your Bible and read these verses. First book of Samuel 18:6, 2 Samuel 6:14, Job 21:11, Psalm 30:11, 149:3, 150:4, And Ecclesiastes 3:4. There is NOTHING wrong with song and dance, as long as they are not sinful in the eyes of God. And you know what is sinful. In our faith, I am Christian too, there are different types of Churches, look for one that excepts you the way you are and will allow you to grow in God. Having a deeper relationship with God is between you and God, not you and the church. The church is for fellowship, to learn, and share your love for God with others. God bless, I'll pray for them at you church and you make sure you do also. If you have any anger or are hurt by that church, release it to God, and know that there is ALWAYS a Judas among the Disciples

There are a number of Christian radio stations that play nothing but music. The music isn't traditional "church" music. Some of it is a good deal like soft rock music. Surf the FM dial or check out the radio listings in a newspaper. I'm pretty sure you can find something. Music and dancing are mentioned in the Bible in a positive manner. Many of the Psalm's start with the prelude " "To the chief Musician." "A Psalm or Song" Dancing is mentioned and it goes without saying that the dancing should be in a respectful manner.

Nothing is wrong with dancing. The music is the issue. You are young. Don't get bound by that stuff. I belong to a pentecostal church. We dance all over the place and have good reasons. God has delivered some from Prisons, Prostitution, Gambling and every vice under the sun, We dance to the glory of God. Giving him thanks for deliverance. You seem to know what vulgar dancing is like. Some times you can get in bondage in some of these churches. God knows your intentions and your heart. He will judge you accordingly to your motives. Go ahead be happy youngster, Praise God an follow your own spirit. I think you will be all right. I think dancing is good for the spirit. Great-Grandmother Mary

You've been watching Footloose, haven't you? If you haven't, you need to and they demonstrate the parts of the bible that argue FOR dancing.
That movie is the ONLY place I've ever heard that dancing was bad according to religion. Some churches actually hold dances for their teen members.
There are also many, many Christian rock bands out there. How could that be possible if music was considered bad in Christianity?
P.S. I am not Christian, and I resent the fact that you assume only Christians are informed of Christian teachings. Anyone can study anything, it doesn't require you to become a part of what you study.

That's not so much a Christian requirement as a Church of Christ belief. David danced before the Lord. I have seen dance used as a form of worship. ALL things are lawful to us, although not all music or dance is good for us. If you can do it comfortably with Jesus looking on, there should be no problem.

Music and dancing is not bad. It depends on the type of music played in your church. Music and dancing is not forbidden in the bible and even David danced when the ark of the Covenant was brought to Jerusalem.
If you belong to a traditional type of church in which only hymns are the only one accepted, then it is perhaps bad to the judgment of the leaders in your church. I think you belong to that type of church. You must tell your pastor about it. Be open to him. In our church, dancing is part of the service. We know how to distuinguish christian to worldly dancing. The same with songs.

What,,then the Lord must have been angry at David all the time..David use to sing and dance for the Lord..Did you ever read Psalms? Most of that was song He sang to the Lord,,It also depends on the music,,You can't allow your mind to get filtered with things of the world,,it will bring confusion in your life...I say Dance and sing as long as it is done for the Lord...

I was taught this when I was growing up. I have yet to find anything in the Bible supporting it though. I don't believe that God has a problem with music or dancing. That's just my thoughts on the subject though.

The bible says that David danced vigorously when he became king of Isreal. There are times when it is appropriate.
If you are having trouble with the beliefs of your current
church, try another one. Christianity is really a broad range
of beliefs that are centered (or not centered) on the Bible.
Only you can decide what is right through study and prayer.
