Schlotzky's Original.
Or at home, grilled cheese, or Ham and Muenster on Ciabatta, or broiled tuna salad on toast, or a "Grilled Elvis" which I ate for breakfast yesterday...Peanut butter & banana on toast.

Panino di Prosciutto e Mozzarella
An Italian Sandwich

1 large sturdy baguette shaped roll
4 to 5 slices imported Italian prosciutto, about 1/8 pound
2 ounces fresh bocconcini, thickly sliced, drained on tea towels
extra virgin olive oil
fresh ground black pepper
4 whole basil leaves

1. Cut the roll in half horizontally. Arrange the prosciutto on the bottom half of the roll. Top the prosciutto with the sliced mozzarella.
2. Drizzle some olive oil over the cheese and grind black pepper on top. Arrange basil leaves over it all and cover with the top of the roll.

Makes 1 big panino.

A patty melt, with fresh hamburger, a heaty rye bread, grilled onions, one slice of American cheese, and one slice of swiss, ketchup on the side, is my favorite, american cheese on white would be second, and a Rheuben third.

It's a classic and I love a truckstop grilled ham, cheese and tomato sandwich on my road trips to visit my family. Loooove them! Great, now I really want one and I've got no ham. Maybe the corner store sells it? Hmmm, should really go check that out. But wait! I don't have a sandwhich press! Aaargh, off to ebay to get one. Ta!
