In the Bible, there are many instances when God or Jesus ask a question. If you review these instances, what conclusion can you draw from the context in which the questions apply. Is God/Jesus directing our attention to the answer or asking because He doesn't know the answer?

you cannot show someone the truth by simply telling them.

you can only show them the truth by leading the way through questions, so they find the answer themselves.

if you are simply told, you just have to have faith in the source or that answer, if you find the answer yourself, with guidance,... someone asking YOU the right questions to help you come to the conclusion yourself, its not faith in the source that gives the answer "force" but the fact that its understanding that you've come to yourself.

Possible answers:
1. He's just bored and playing games with us.
2. Don't parents do the same thing? ;)
3. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then Jesus is speaking through you, then God and Jesus are just talking to each other. But, Jesus is God, so it's just God talking to Himself.

(P.S. I'm an agnostic. LOL.)

It is called rhetorical questioning - one that is not meant to be answered, or in other cases they are asked to make the person think, but not because they do not know the answer.

He asks for the answer to be known to more than Him and the one He asks.

Sounds like you already know. God is all-knowing. He doesn't need to find out, we do.
