Sounds like she needs more positive attention from you. Little sisters look up to their big sisters. She's trying to get your attention... good or bad... although she's too young to understand why she is doing it. Try setting aside a half hour each night to be your special time together. It will give her something positive to look forward to. Play Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders. She will be a much happier little girl and you'll benefit from it also. Good luck to the both of you and God bless.

Your folks should be working with her on the matter of respecting other people's space and their belongings. In one way, this is a disciplinary issue.

It's probably also a psychological one. Maybe your sister wants attention from you, and this is the only way she knows to get it. It might be worth your while to do something pleasant with her, on her level...take her to the playground or the icecream shop, talk to her, give her some quality time...and see if she stops getting into your things. Even though she is young and probably not fascinating company for you now, taking care of the relationship between you and her and making it strong and positive is something worth doing. She could be one of the strongest allies you have when you're both adults facing adult problems.

My little brother did this kind of thing to me when I was young and lived at home. I shared a room with my sister and she and I kept an eye on him and every time he went in there we got him out and played with him. He soon learned to ask rather than invade our space to get our attention. My mother said to just put stuff up out of reach but that didn't help much. Playing with him (using distraction to redirect his efforts) helped a lot more.
