Why are Chinese/ Orientals such BAD drivers?

I am not trying to be racist here but they often make poor judgement about lane changes, traffic signals and slow down while entering the freeway or are totally oblivious of rules.

For Smart_ca's answer - well only you brilliantly stupid people try to be so politically correct that your forget the actual English people still call them Orientals and it is not a racial SLUR (You made them into furniture) - after all we English invented the godamn language! See what people in our country say when they mean people of all Asian countries.

Apparently they do not have as much peripheral vision so they do not see things to the side of them as well as other races.
I saw a show that was trying to find out who the worst drivers are and an Asian comedian from Australia was on it.
He was a terrible driver and that was his excuse.

Wow, some of these answers are really mean and disrespectful. The thing to know is their underlying driving education, and mainly where they got it from, i.e. most likely China. If you've ever been to China, you will quickly know that driving is very different from the states, not only do they drive fast, they also tailgate pretty closely, to close for my comfort anyways. Aside from that, driving is pretty much the same around the world, except for difference in laws, so people from China drive the same way they would in the states. That does not necessarily make them a bad driver, they just drive according to different situations, i.e. they think they are still driving in China. Now on to the offsprings, most teenagers receive their driving education from their parents, and if they parents aren't up to par as American drivers are, how different would they be then if they are taught by their parents? And trust me, its not just Asians, people from every race and ethnicity have bad drivers, its just easy to stereotype Asians because the stereotype is already there as "public knowledge" and everyone uses it.

I'm Chinese and I'm definitely a good driver and I've got good compliments about my driving. I've relocated from Asia to Texas a month ago and I've been driving around the streets and highways.

Honestly, drivers are globally the same on both sides of the Continent. There are good and bad Chinese/ Oriental/ Asian drivers in Asia the same as there are good and bad American/ Hispanics/ other races drivers in this continent as well.

It's Global. That's Life. Face it.

I'm Chinese and consider myself a good driver. I've never even gotten as much as a parking ticket. But I know what you mean. If you ever go to China, it's much worse. It's always cars before pedestrians, they don't stop for anyone, and people drive as if they own the road. Maybe that philosophy has been brought over.

I'm Chinese and I'm a good driver. However, my friend can get a bit crazy because she drives 90 on the freeways. I think it's because asians are more into fast cars, modifications, and stuff like that. They like to feel the road, turn sharply, and push their vehicles to their limits.

You know.. the word "oriental" is like calling whities crackers. The word oriental refers to "objects and things" not people. The word "oriental" is something that white people conjured up to label or lump all people of "asian" decent into one group.

White people use the word "americans" too loosely without knowing who is really an american. "White people" (this is also a lumping of many people of pale skin together: jews, germans, italians, british, etc) aren't the only ones that are american. We have Chinese Americans, Japanese Americans, Korean Americans, Vietnamese Americans, Mexican Americans, African Americans, etc..

To the original inquirer.. So where are you from, may we ask? If you are from the U.S., don't say America. All cacasians in the U.S. didn't originate from "America" - If you are indeed white from the U.S. - you are an immigrant just like everybody else living in the USA, except the native americans -- They are the "real Americans".

Asians in America are well educated and understand the historical view of the words "Oriental", "Asian", "American", "East meets West", etc. That is why so many ethnicities reject being labeled as a thing. Just like Blacks in America understand the historical degrading meaning of someone outside their culture calling one a "ni@@er".

Unfortunately, one can see that the educational levels of people on this board still represent cultural ignorance. And, racism continues to be alive and well.

I'm not trying to be racist here, but I do agree with your assessment of our fellow Asian drivers. Let's put it this way: Why are there no Asian race car drivers when there are even women racers now (such as Danica Patrick)?

I guess they started driving much later than an average person here. Also I think quite a number of them wear those huge visors and floppy hats which impair vision to a large extent.

Because caucasians are dum agressive drivers so someone should slow down to keep peace on the road.
