I've had a continuing story on here about my cat BUDDY. Took her in Labor day 2005. My landlord THOUGHT that she had been around for many years (diff cat) so I thought she was old. I tried to comfort myself recently by thinking that hopefully she went away to pass on. I know that can't be true now. She had her sight, her hearing, and boy what an appetite!! She only slowed down a little bit in the last couple of months because of a minor hip injury. She did once go after a raccoon to play with it for Pete's sake! I thought she learned her lesson when that raccoon took a chunk out of her tail. I nursed her back. I am not saying it is my cat's fault. I believe it is MY fault. I heard her cry one early morning. I DIDN'T get up to open the door cause I was sick (again MY own fault!). I figured she'd be fine another hour or 2. I basically killed my beloved cat even tho I gave her the world and a very happy last year of her life but I will never ever forgive myself. FIRE AWAY PLEEEASE!!!!!!

I forgot to menton, I DID always leave my sliding glass doors open a crack for her but of course this one darn night I didn't cause it was cold. I know many of you lost a pet and you have my deepest sympathy but I don't deserve any. I didn't think the pain could get any worse!! I definitely gave her a lot of love, gifts, toys, catnip, the best food and again, lots and lots of love in her last year. But she came to me once again as she always has when she got hurt (outdoor cat, couldn't keep her in) and I wasn't there to help her and save her this time. Even my other cat who I thought did not like her is grieving. I had no idea. She really wales for her and keeps looking for her. This can't be more devastating for crying out loud! Sorry, I'm very very angry with myself.

Ok, I'm sorry to tell you this, but I think it is time for you to seek some professional help.
It doesn't do any good to ponder this so much. Yes, your kitty died(and I told you earlier how sorry I am), but you have to understand that you didn't do it on purpose and these things happen....now...please get off the internet and stop posting about Buddy....It is not helping you...and tomorrow call someone to talk to about your grief.

Please do not be so hard on yourself. You took care of your cat and should not blame yourself. You did the best you could and you were sick yourself. You did not misstreat your beloved cat. You gave her all your love and tender care. Why should you hate yourself for something good you did ? You need to love yourself a bit more dear heart. I certainly will not beat you up ! I am a cat lover myself and I understand your loss because I did have to give away my cat because of a landlord who did not want animals in the appartment. I gave him to my cousin in the country because she loved cats too. But after I left, she never saw the cat ever again. I felt guilty for a long time, but although I felt I had abandonned him, I knew I wanted him to be happy and had found a good home for him not to get into trouble with my landlord. I had not him put to sleep because I loved him. Needless to say I never had another cat since because the cat is the master in my home and once he was gone. That was it! Pets become like children to humans. I understand your grief. Please love yourself enough to forgive yourself dear heart. This is what I had to do. I hope my reply will help you.

I understand you're feeling a need to be punished. Don't worry; you'll beat yourself up plenty as time goes on. You don't need our help. What you are really asking for, whether you know it or not, is somebody to understand & sympathise with what you're going through. There are a lot of us who can do that. Most of us have made a thoughtless mistake at one time or another. noone is perfect. But if we are sensitive, caring people, we really get down on ourselves when our behavior causes an innocent animal harm. Be thankful that you do feel remorse: It means you are not an uncaring beast, but a loving, caring human who just made a mistake. We grow by our mistakees when we allow them to teach us, instead of just brooding over them. So learn & grow, then go to the humane society & get you & your other cat a new friend! You will be honoring the memory of Buddy by giving another unwanted kittie a home! Love & prayers are with you.

As I read your question I have tears rolling down my face I know exactly what you are going through just my cats I had to have put to sleep because I could not have them with me where I live and they would not adjust to another home. Don't blame yourself I know it is not easy but try and remember the good and happy times you had with Buddy and if you are missing her sit down and have a good cry over it and carry on. Go to the human society and get yourself another cat you will see it will do you the world of good. May God Bless you and my prayers and thoughts are with you.

It happens. I had a cat that I loved inside that loved to be out..When I moved i asked my now ex husbands mom if she'd babysit him til I figured out a better solution..He got out and died of heatstroke.. I felt so bad cuz I wasn't there to make sure him and I had a home together..Life goes on..I now am on my 3rd cat whom was a stray and I thank god she is happy staying in..Moral of the story is to get another cat ease your pain..

do no longer kill the cat...jeesh. call your community animal administration, they are going to come take the cat away! he's hungry, you may positioned some foodstuff in a capture, that way he can get some foodstuff and you may furnish him to an animal shelter.
