I would deffinately take him to the vet for this ASAP.

If urinating seems to be painful for him, or if there is blood in his urine then it could be a urinary track infection, for which your vet will perscribe antibiotics and a special kind of food that will help with urinary problems.

Another thing that your cat could have is bladder or kidney stones. This is a fairly common condition in older cats, and they can either be surgically removed, or if they are not that severe, they can be passed.

Your vet will most likely recommend getting your cat a senior cat food that can help with perventing urinary track problems, however, these kinds of food can be more expencive than regular cat food.

Your cat has urinary obstruction - kost likely I must warn you that for male cats, this is an emergency situation because it can kill your cat if he can't express his bladder. But you say that he is able to pass squirts or drops of urine... but maybe that won't be enough to relieve his full bladder, otherwise you risk bladder rupture.

Ok. I have my cat wellness book out. This is what it says:

If a veterinarian is absolutely not available, you can try the following:

1. Use firm but gentle manipulation of the [cat's] penis to try and squeez the obstructing material out of the urethra. Try rolling the penis between your fingers, working from nearest the body to the tip. If your motions are being effective, gritty-feeling white or blood-tinged material will be expressed like toothpaste from the end of the penis. If you relieve the obstruction completely, urine will ususally begin to flow freely from the penis.

OK. Try that. Oh - do you know how to restrain your cat to do this? Wrap him - all 4 legs and all in a towel. wrap it around him securely to restarin him

Good luck!

But take kitty to vet first thing in the morning!

Just keep him warm and comfy until the morning when you take him to the vet. At least he can pass a bit of urine. Make sure he has water.
Male cats can suffer from crystals in their bladders (cant remember the correct term) and also prostrate problems. Both can cause difficulty in urinating.
If he has been mainly eating dry food, the salt content can cause problems with male cats. Once they get older it is an idea to feed them "seniors" food. My 10 year old cat is on seniors food LOL

Good luck with him, and there isn't much you can do until you get him to the vet cept keep him warm

Keep him warm & comfortable & get him to the vet ASAP. Hard as it may be, don't let him drink much at all. He probably has a kidney infection. This is pretty serious for older cats, & males especially seem to develop this problem. He'll need antibiotics, & probably catheterized to release the built-up urine. The longer you have to wait, the worse it gets, so go as soon as you can. Good luck. I'll be praying for you & your friend.

Ok , i know this will sound off the wall. I want you to try to give him alkaseltzer. The cold and flu drink. It is a home remedy for burning bladder infections, and it works great. I dont see why it wouldnt help your kitty. I had a really bad bladder infection and i tryed it, and it really worked. The burning was gone and i could actually sit and go , and not feel like i need go back in 5 seconds. Vets usually give cats and dogs the same medicines that us humans take, so it wont hurt him. My cat was on valum when we went on a trip. I would try it and see if it works, just need make sure that he drinks it all.

Any age cat may be stable, in case you circulate to a rescue domicile you are able to ask for cats which would be homed with different cats and that could supply help to out slightly as your'll understand they are going to be friendly. you will ought to shop the hot cat in one room for a mutually as (around a week so will want separate for that factor) enable the different cat to get used to the scent in the process the door would be a stable start up, after a week lock all cat flaps and doorways and enable the two cats get used to one yet another, be careful that they could not get alongside in the initiating yet they're going to finally. youthful cats tend to look as much as the older ones permitting your cat to be extra dominate so i might %. a youthful one yet not a kitten or youthful than a million 12 months as they are able to harass older cats!!! yet its only trial and blunder on the top of the day, like human beings cats can at once dislike one yet another!

My cat went through something similar to that a few years back. So I know what you're going through. It sounds to me like your cat's got a UTI or something of the likes. My cat, Tigger, had a really bad UTI. Of course we had to take him to the vet, so there's really nothing you can do for him at home. Things will just have to wait until the morning. I'm sure your cat will be ok. Just get him/her there soon.

Only if he will let you, try a warm bath, sounds like he has a urinary tract infection and it's painful for him to try and go. The warm water will also help if he has crystals that are blocking the urinary tract. Sorry to hear about your lovable old fellow, and good luck at the vet tomorrow.
