Ok, to prove your point further, think about this: Gold may be 'precious' on Earth, but why would it be once we've left this physical plane? Here it's a means to get things, what purpose would gold have 'up there' except to shine and look pretty? If there is a heaven, then why would it really have streets (or anything else) of gold?
Personal opinion, I do think we were scared into believing certain ways. Not that it's our parents or grandparent's faults, because they had also been scared into their beleif systems when they were children.

well friend going by your own viewpoint... we dont know everything in space. The vast regions that have never been explored or seen... and probably never will be seen at least not from here.
So in that vast immance of space your telling me that its not possible that God could have a location.... that in an area that is unconceivable by the human mind as for size.... that its not possible that there is a location that God could have set??
Come on.... as you guys are so fond of telling us believers.... you cant really be that stupid.
As for hell.... friend if you wind up in hell it will be by your denial of him.... your desire to be seperate from him. He is a just God and he will not force you to spend eternity with him if thats not what you want. Hell was intended for Satan and the fallen... if you choose not to be with God you have that right..... you can be with the fallen if you choose.
God bless you will be keeping you in prayer.

How do I believe? Well, I'll tell you. Before I began studying the bible, I thought it was just a bunch of stuff written a long time ago. Ten years of very diligent bible study later, I believe it is exactly what it says it is: by inspiration of God.
So...if Revelation describes a city with streets of pure gold, transluscent, like glass....I believe.

This is just a metaphore. A way to tell us that all will be well after you die.... if you were a good Christian of course!!!! Because if not, you will burn forever in Hell..... again a metaphore, meaning that your soul won't find peace and will endure endless tourments...

How can you believe that you've had a headache before when you can't see it or prove it? If you tell someone that you have a headache do they ever ask you to prove it? A headache is unseen but very real.

Explain the part of space that science can not explain. Do you see air? You believe it is there though don't you?

Of course all religions were designed to promote ideas of good and evil and punishment for sins.

Just because you don't believe and you can't see it does not mean it isn't there, you should believe and then see. For there is a Jesus and there is his and our heavenly father GOD

Well, your logic is okay, but the sarcasm is a bit much. Your not going to change ppl's minds that way. Fighting fire with fire never works you know.
