It's best to clean your cat's ears regularly with a q-tip & warm water. It is okay to add a teaspoon of vinegar to a cup of warm water to help with any wax buildup and any odor. You can scratch inside your cat's ear very gently with a fingertip or a knuckle, but it's really kind of gross, especially if your cat spends any time outside. Their ears tend to get black gunk in them, & it's pretty yucky.

Don't scratch inside - you don't want to risk hurting your kitty. Both of my cats LOVE to be scratched their ears -I think it's just one of those "good" spots for them. I would check inside your kitty's ears periodicly to make sure they are clean and free of debri. If you cat's ears are starting to get gunky, buy some ear cleaning solution from the pet store and follow their directions. In any case, scratching on the outside of your cat's ears will make him very happy :)

You should not scratch it. What I do is put my thumb inside my cats ear (not too far in) and put my pointer finger on the outside andjust kind of rub the ear. My cat seems to love it!

I always bend my finger and scratch it with my knuckle. If their ear seems itchy you might want to wet a Q-tip and clean out their ear....much like a baby...gentle.

scratching behind his ears is good and they love it. if you go inside his ears you could hurt him by mistake...he will scratch himself in his ears and it will not hurt at all.......

yes you can but be careful not to go to far into the canal. Make sure he doesn't have ear mites, also. If his ears are dirty and have a little odor then you prob. have mites. if so just go to walmart and get some medicine to treat them. its really no big deal....
