nope..you will be fine...
They rig Army boot camp to the lowest common denominator. So that nobody is left out. You will get in better shape there.
Good luck and have fun

Don't listen to any of these people. You are 24 years old and the way the military runs their PT tests you still are tested with the 18 yr olds.

Well 25 bmi is kinda high bud and most of the basic training physical fitness is going to be based off of 3 things .. running, pushups, and situps. The running is long distance type of things 2 miles-4 mile morning runs.

I'll try to give you a little heads up here on approx where you should be at BEFORE basic training for you to have a "decent" time there.... if you can't do this your in for a long 2 months... and depending how bad it gets you may not make it.

2 mile run: 17:00 minutes.... If you can jog/run without stopping to walk and do 2 miles in 17 minutes your gonna be fine... anything over and your looking for alot of trouble.

Situps: 40 in one minute.... can't do this then your in trouble
Pushups: 35 real pushups in one minute... if you can't do 35 then start practicing right now.

The army just doesn't have time to woop anyone into shape these days... too many soldiers, and some come in WAY out of shape.... I mean realisticly you can only get so fit in the 9 weeks of basic training. Don't expect to come out superman, but you will get in better shape.

If you have a few weeks yet before you leave I would suggest focusing on the running the most. Get your knees used to that constant pounding they will take from running on blacktop and streets around the base every morning. Get good running sneakers and break em in before you leave. When your practicing don't ever stop to walk... you gotta get used to constantly moving cuz if you stop in the middle of runs "falling out" the drill sgts are gonna jump all over you.

Well since they eased the 18-21 standards on the APFT a few years ago, that category is no longer the toughest. Keep in mind your recruiter just wants to make sure you ship.

Do yourself a favor and start getting in shape today. Start with doing a little and add a little every day. If you want to risk not being able to leave the reception company and go to BCT on time or stand out then go ahead and don't prepare.

military complication-unfastened education wasnt confusing. i've got been in the army 9 months now, and have been by complication-unfastened and AIT and am now in my accountability station. complication-unfastened education is a important recommendations interest, the drill sergeants do not yell, as i've got study in a prior remark. that's what they inform you, they don't look to be yelling. they are only speaking loud. PT isn't the main confusing element in complication-unfastened. you purely ought to artwork at it. I went into complication-unfastened education not with the ability to run, in any respect. I hate working. and that i went to AIT working a 17:00 2 mile, which for a woman my age, isnt tooooo undesirable. lol. you will get smoked sufficient to the place the rush united statesand sit down united stateswill be a breeze. working replaced into my purely important set decrease back, and as i've got mentioned, i'm right here at my accountability station. additionally, rifle education, is likewise a sprint confusing in case you have in no way shot a weapon (like me.) do not call the rifles weapons, they are not weapons. they are weapons. you will get to do somewhat some cool issues. Grenade education, rifle capturing, gas chamber (completely sucks), impediment classes, team construction workouts. All in all I had a stable time in complication-unfastened. To get in large condition, do only pushups and situps daily (you will try this in complication-unfastened) and run another day. gradually build your self as much as the generic in case you at the instant are not there yet, you do not prefer to get harm in complication-unfastened. they're going to the two recycle you, or financial disaster you out. (I only approximately have been given chaptered for my achilles tendon.ankle) desire this helped.

Start running, doing push ups and sit ups. Other than that, boot is just a mind game. It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
