Because he's a guy. Your average male does not know how to take care of long hair. He probably means well, but just can't get it right. Either show him the proper way or don't let him brush your hair anymore.

I'm actually good at it, because I learned by brushing horse manes and tails when I was working 'down on the farm'. It's a skill that takes practice. Brushing a woman's hair (or having a man brush your hair) is very sensual... if you want to enjoy it you'll have to teach him and be patient as he learns.

Have him start near the ends of your hair--the last few inches. Then he can slowly add to the length of hair he is combing and avoid knots. It can be quite romantic if he isn't yanking you out by the roots all the time. Good luck.

Tell him to empty the brush and flatten your hair with his other hand before he starts on the next stroke.

naaaaaaaaaw..( sarcastics) i'm basically enjoying yeah it may be, yet attempt use your hands to run throught it first. the reason being that your hair could be much less complicated to comb and it won't pull out maximum of your hairs.

Ask him to start from the bottom of your hair and go up. If that makes any sense to you.

It isn't an instantaneous thing that all men know. You have had long hair for years, probably.
Either show him how, or tell him how.
