I know I am saved because 1 John 1:9 says that if we confess (and by association, repent) our sin, God will forgive us and remove the unrighteousness from our hearts. I've asked Him for forgiveness and I've repented of my sins, and I've seen His faithfulness in His promises.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but are you a member of the LDS church? I've heard a lot of Mormons say that the way they know that the Book of Mormon is true is because the Holy Spirit bears witness to their spirit, but then they don't back it up with Scripture that indicates repentance or forgiveness of their sins.

When Jesus died on the cross, he saved the whole world. Those that were dead before he died, those who were living at the time, and those who came and went long after.
This word "saved" is used in the wrong context in modern times. It's used to described a person turning to God from a life of sin.
In reality, when we turn from sin and either remain close to God, or when we return to God after backsliding. What is really happening is, we are being RESCUED by God from the darkness of our sinful lives.
There should be no doubt if we are saved. What we need to ask is for forgiveness and a seat on Gods' lifeboat...

I'm not saved. The Bible says we WILL be saved (note the future tense) IF we endure to the end. I haven't reached the end of my life yet, therefore I have not received salvation yet. Even though I love the Lord and accept Him as my Savior, I still have free will, and I know that other believers have fallen away. But I am currently on the road to salvation, and with God's grace I will remain there until the end.

I know because all of scripture is given by inspiration of God....and God is not man that He should lie. Therefore, when His word says "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved"....I can bet my life on it.
And I have!

Yours is a kind of meaningless statement - you might as well use the same reason to explain why you are green, or toffee flavoured, or a stretch of Highway 66. So you don't explain to anyone except yourself how you know you are saved, you therefore give us no idea how we might know the same, if we cared to.

Jesus hasn't saved me (yet). His death and resurrection only redeemed me. He opened the gates to Heaven for me and I now have to choose if I want to enter. I feed my soul while on earth so when I die, it's my soul that meets Jesus face to face. It's my soul that tells Jesus that I believe or not. Then Jesus decides if He will save me.

if you read romans 10: 9-10 and believe this and confess it, thats all you need to be saved. how great and merciful is god! but it is so hard for people to believe god loves us so, that he only wants us to believe...
