FIBROMYALGIA CAUSES

The certain cause of this pain in the muscles, ligaments, and tendons is still unknown. But some scientists believe that an injury or trauma that affects the central nervous system may sometimes cause the fibromyalgia syndrome. Others believe that an infection produced by a virus or other agent may develop FMS. Possible factors as psychological stress, hormonal changes, or other changes in body chemicals could also result into fibromyalgia.

FIBROMYALGIA SYMPTOMS

The frequently met symptoms are:

- deep muscular aching, even intense burning, worse in the morning;
- fatigue, described as "brain fatigue", patients feeling totally drained of energy with difficulty in concentrating and the sensation of a brain fog;
- sleep disorder, called the alpha-EEG anomaly. Most FMS patients can fall asleep easily, but their sleep is constantly interrupted by bursts of awake-like brain activity.
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome, characterized through constipation, diarrhea, frequent abdominal pain, abdominal gas, and nausea, are symptoms found at FMS patients.
- chronic headaches.

Other common fibromyalgia symptoms reported by sufferers are: chest pain, morning stiffness, cognitive or memory impairment, numbness and tingling sensations, muscle twitching, irritable bladder, the feeling of swollen extremities, skin sensitivities, dry eyes and mouth, dizziness, impaired coordination. Sensitivity to odors, loud noises, bright lights, and sometimes even the medications that they are prescribed can occur. The weather changes, cold or drafty environments, infections, allergies, hormonal fluctuations (premenstrual and menopausal states), stress, depression or anxiety may aggravate FMS.

so i would say that it is normal to be more vulnerable to pain, not sure about injury.
if your really hurting then, yes i would go to see your doctor or the emerg. room

I don't think its appropriate to say that people with fibromyalgia are more vulnerable to injury but rather more vulnerable to pain itself. Well, I'm not a doctor although I'm a healthcare professional myself but it's wise to seek medical attention ASAP depending on the severity of the accident which can be best determined only by you. Nweiz, my advice is that u go to the ER because you could be suffering from other injuries related to that particular accident aside from the pain caused by your fibromyalgia especially if the pain is really intolerable.

"Fobromyalgia" (uh, do you mean, "Fibromyalgia?)" is affected by STRESS bigtime.

It's always a good idea to be checked out by a doctor when you're in a car accident. However, I suspect that the stress of the situation has added to the aches and pains that even Tony Stewart or Dale Earnhart woudl be feeling today.

you're not more prone to injury because of fibromyalgia...but you were in a car accident and those cause injuries...i don't think you're injury is directly related to the fact you have fibromyalgia. you should get it checked out by a doc...

Don't make a statement to the insurance adjuster untill you've spoken with an attorney.
