Oh, my gosh, I am so completely in shock over what that woman said. I have lost a baby also and every time I think about some of the things that were said to me by Christians, it makes me want to scream. As a whole, I do not have problems with individual Christians. More it is the whole idea of organized religion. I do not judge people based on their beliefs. I judge based on how they are as a person. I will tell someone real quick when they try to preach to me that they need to back off. In the same respect, I don't try to convert someone to atheism... just not my style. Go ahead and email me, it sounds like we might have alot in common. My email address is jen2192000@yahoo.com

Dear Journey, I am saddened that this woman has hurt you so badly. I, also have lost children, and hurt that only a mother can hurt. I do believe that my children are in heaven. I know that they are full and complete and eternal, just as yours is.
While I disagree with what this very uninformed woman believes as truth, I take hope in Christianity.
I am glad that you see that all Christians are in the same group, as I feel about people that don't share my beliefs. I am in hope that people as a whole can learn to live and grow together, through education, and tolerance.
I pray that the heart ache you feel for the loss of your son, will heal.
be blessed in your journey. vjh

Hello Journey,
I am a Christian and am horrified by what has happened here. I don't like being considered part of the whole when Christians misrepresent the Spirit as was done in this case. God is not at all served by attacks such as the one you suffered here. I want to thank you for understanding that not all are Christian because they claim to accept that Christ is Savior. Jesus actually spoke at length about this sort of hypocrisy. Again, I apologize for this person and I am deeply sorry for your loss. I also thank you for understanding that a few radicals who do not what Christ asks, are not the majority. More damage is done to the message of Christ by this sort of behavior than is done by Satan, I think... but perhaps it is actually the work of Satan... rest assured that God knows and all will come to judgment. May God bless you. Amen.

I have a good friend who is a "true Christian". He doesn't preach, can discuss both his religious beliefs and science intelligently, and volunteers a lot of his time to help underprivileged kids. It bugs me a little that he has bought into the argument that microevolution happens but that macroevolution never happened. We just agree to disagree on that one. He doesn't want to allow gays to Marry, but he is fine with the idea if Civil Unions that confer full legal status to gay couples as if they were married. I pointed out that the Govenment should therefore only do civil unions, and he was fine with that too. If all Christians were like him, I'd have no problems with Christians.

I have to agree with you. Although I don't share their beliefs either, and like you get awfully frustrated with the hypocrisy ignorance, there are wonderful people in the group.
I answered a question the other day, and got a private note from a pastor in my mailbox -- no preaching, just a very sincere expression of goodwill. It was one of the nicest things I've received.
I do try not to judge people by any "group" identity -- not race, religion, skin color, etc. But it's not always easy ;-)
Nice "question."

As an intellectual who uses Logic, Reason, and Fact to make sense of life, I find it hard and frustrating to understand those who disregard those tools instead using, blind faith, trust, and denial.
People can live their lives however they wish. What bothers me is that many Christians aim to control my life through laws, Politics, the Courts etc. that push their beliefs on me.
That's as UnAmerican as is gets. Majority does not rule if the Majority is wrong. That is what the constitution is for . To protect my right to pursue happiness any way I want. If that involves unprotected sex outside of marriage, or Gambling and drinking, or burning a Flag, then that is my right... When they try and take that away I have to fight back...

I don't mind most Christians. I just don't like their religious beliefs.
I have many friends who are Christians and most of them are great people. I also know many atheists and Muslims are are great people. Fact is, most people are decent.
I really don't mind those who come in here and ask Christian questions. However, I do sometimes give harsh responses to those questions. I feel no compulsion respect certain Christian ideas. I find Christianity, as a whole, to be a dangerous and virulent.

I already answered that question you asked. I also don't lump All Christians together. I judge people as individuals not as a group. I don't hold a group of people accountable for the actions of others.
