Sure. Talk to your OB about it.
But he or she might suggest an IUD instead, because of your age.

It's possible sweetie but I wouldn't if I were you. That baby may grow up lonely and begging for a sibling as mine did and you will be thankful you didn't do it then. I don't know your reasons for wanting your tubes tied so young but life & situations change. I had my first child at 28 and said "no more" but God had another plan. If you had a difficult birth and don't want to go thru it again I can tell you this - I delivered my 1st child at almost 11 lbs. - talk about a bad labor experience. The 2nd & 3rd were a breeze. Each pregnancy is different and each labor and well all know - life changes daily. Hold off & maybe say a little prayer about it. You can always have it done later down the road if you still feel the same.

I personally would wait until you got a little older, maybe around 30? Only becuase your still young and your views and opinions could change. Then you could be 32 and decide that you want your child to have a brother or sister.
Take it from an only child, it can be really hard to grow up without any brothers or sisters.
But I'm not going to judge you and say your being selfish or anything just becuase you do not want more children. Thats your decision and no one can tell you different.
I dont however think that ecoli is a good reason not to want more children. Things like that happen. Yes 2 people died and a little over a hundred got sick, but other then the two who died, it wasnt the end of the world.

Hi. I have a little boy. I had him when I was 19. They told me I couldn't have mine tied because I was to young and I only had one child. I'm 23 now also and I asked my doctor a couple of weeks ago and she told me no again. She said again I was too young. She said also the fact that I only had one kid bothered her. I told her I didn't want anymore and that I was sure. She told me when I turn 25 I can get them done. So I don't know if it's really the age they care about or the number if children you have. I'm sure if I was 23 with 3 or 4 kids, I could probably get them tied. But I'm not. I have one kid and that's all I want.

You can, but at the same time, as you get older and your friends start to have babies, you may want to try again and it will be too late. I've had many of friends who thought that they were done with children, but as their babies grew up, they decided they wanted another baby in their lives. It's all up to you. If you can handle possibly having similar thoughts later down the road then go for it. But also know that not getting your tubes tied till your a little older won't hurt you either.

Why is it that people have such a problem with adults deciding they want only one or no children? My husband and I have one child. That is ALL we want to have biologically because of SEVERE birth defects that run in his family (4 of his 5 siblings are dead). Yet, we can't get out insurance (Tricare - he's in the military) to pay for either of us to be sterilized unless we have at least 3 children. Here's what gets me - Tricare will gladly pay for a pregnancy/birth (mine would have been just under 10000 w/o insurance), which, great and all, but they will ALSO pay for people to get tubals REVERSED if you're under a certain age (35, i believe)!!! Huh?? They are ok with someone deciding to pop out 5 or 6 kids on their dime, but it's not acceptable for someone to make the decision, with their spouse, that they don't want to bring any more biological children into the world??? I fail to see the logic in this....
PS (my husband is 25, and I'm 29, if that makes any difference)

yes, you can but some docs won't do it since you only have one child and your still young. you may change your mind in 10 years, I would go on the pill or other form of contraception. It's really expensive to have tube reversal. Now if you just hate being a mother then by all means have your tubes tied. But I think you just think your "done".

You can have your tubes tied? Are you married? If so your husband will need to go with you and sign papers saying you don't want anymore kids. It is an outpatient procedure. The doctor can tie your tubes going through your belly button. Its a simple procedure. You will only have to take a few days off work.
Good Luck!!

the dr will do it auto if u got a health reason but normally they tell u no until ur 25 just b/c it is irreversable n alot of ppl change their minds u can use birth control for 2 more years when you go in talk to the dr and see what choices you have with this situation.

as far as i know you have to be over the age of 25 or have 3 children or more to get your tubes tied, but i would check with your ob. and you cant get it done in a Catholic hospital, your best bet is the Deop shot cause once you cut and burn its hard to turn back. lets say you want to have another baby in 5 years its a slim chance your tubs will go back to norm and a slimmer chance you will conceive. good luck.

Usually docs want to wait till you are at least 30 or your second child. to make up your mind. but with persistence you may get them done now. Be very careful when making a decision like this.
