Because although his techniques seem to work I don't believe that he is completely right in what he says. Yes animals need leadership but he looks at dogs as though they are wolfs, not a species that is much higher evolved from their ancestors. He doesn't seem to believe in becoming as close to these creatures as I feel we can. And I think that he misses the point of their existence, as companions. If we train them right, give them a healthy amount of exercise, and know how to properly use our voice to discipline them, we should never EVER have to lay our hands on them in a disciplinary measure. Also the way he makes dogs confront their fears, is completely against what any good dog trainer will tell you. By making a dog confront their fear, in most cases you will only traumatize them and make them more fearful of the situation. Obviously only the success stories are going to be aired and published. Someday it is my opinion that we will see a book or story come out about how many dogs have been ruined by this illegal and it will be shattering to all who follow his advice.
Edit: I do agree with his belief that we can communicate with our dogs through our energy. I do it all the time and had though that I was simply crazy. I think it's part of the sixth sense that we as humans have lost and which animals and especially dogs seem to possess.

Because most of what I have seen of him is just plain old traditional dog training, and I go weekly to a class where a good trainer can tailor advice to me & my dog - much better.
Most of thet differences I have herd reciently about the show are him buying his own hype which Ive seen before from BIG names & frequently leads to them becoming bad trainers.
