Johnnie Walker makes several qualities of Scotch.

The Red Label can be mixed with soda, vermouth (Rob Roy), ginger or whatever you prefer.

Black Label and better (Gold, Green and Blue) are finer products that are best served neat, with pure water or on the rocks. The higher quality the Scotch, the less water or ice.

Scotch is meant to be enjoyed and as such it is an acquired taste. The best way to drink it is on the rocks to savor the full flavor and the smoky aftertaste. Some people prefer to have it with a splash of soda. A Rusty nail is scotch with a splash of Drambuie. If you have to have something with it 7Up is ok, but that goes against the grain of a certified Scotch drinker. If you are a connoiseur, then, the older the better. I understand that the Borgata has 100 year old Glenfiddich, if you are willing to pay for it. I have heard that they have casks of Glenfiddich that are old enough to have seen the turn of the 19th century. That is sipping whiskey.

If you drink a single malt liquor such as Glenfiddich

Yeha on the rocks, Scotch wiskey tends to be a sipping whiskey (as opposed to a mixing whiske of shot whiskey) so there's no better way of having it, just place some ice cubes in a whiskey glass and pour a small (probably about 2 shots worth) over the ice, and enjoy next to a fire place over some light conversation

Neat or on the rocks, in a "rocks" glass with a twist of lemon peal rubbed along the rim of the glass.

I don't drink Scotch whiskey now. I drank more Haig when I did. I had it with water on ice usually. Drinking straight whiskey is too hard on one's stomach. I had an ulcer for a while, but it healed. I don't want to risk getting another by not mixing whiskey.
