I have a can of Veg-all that is older than dirt. In fact, I am now going into the kitchen to get rid of it for real.

Do jars count, I've had a 500gram jusr of vegimite in my pantry that's lasted four years (mind you i use it every day so i guess i'm breaking the ruels a bit)...
I guess the one canned that sticks around is corn, i never seem to use it, mean it's nice and i do love my corn, just it's there.
and believe me if there was a canned food drive here, the jar of vegimite would be the first thing in there, two years on and sitll going strong... provided there weren't crazy rules about food being opened at the time of donation and all.

The healthy low-sodium packed in water tuna fish. I know I should be eating the healthy stuff, but I still reach for the regular salted packed in olive oil Italian tuna whenever I make a salad anyway. It tastes better.
Check expiration dates before you give to a canned food drive, and to be safe never use or donate anything over a year old.

I know what you mean. I have one can all the time and can't figure out who is continually giving me a can of pumpkin. I know that I am constantly giving it away and now that I've looked I have three cans. This is spooky ... I'm really scared! what if I get more what am I going to do... I know, I'll donate all the cans so there will be none. Ask me next month.

I have an emergency can of yellow beans. I guess in case of a vegetable emergency. No I don't give old stuff for a food drive - give stuff they will need and appreciate.
Have had to use the food bank in the past, so I know how nice it is to get a hamper of decent food that one can actually use.

Beets. If you've ever worked at a soup kitchen or helped with a food drive you've seen a million cans of beets.

The mysterious canned gifts that you get from family friends. The type with smudged handwritten labels so you're never really sure exactly what's in there... perhaps chutney, or some kind of sauce. I'm rarely brave enough to find out.

A can of Beef Stew
My husband bought it for his annual Burning Man trip 2 years ago and never ate it.
There is always next year, I guess - LOL!

I have a tin of sardines ... I think it's been there for about 2 years ...lol ... I have to be "in the mood" to eat things such as sardines or smoked oysters. I like em ... just not too often.
