for no apparent reasons, i will feel a rush coming on, followed by a weird metallic smell, and the inability to express myself . i break out in a sweat, and lasts only a minute.
it usually happens in batched every 30 minutes, for a day, then won't happen again for months.
i went to ER once, and all tests were negative.
thanks for all opinions.

panic attacks are known to mimic a heart attack and/or stroke so if your test came back all normal then i would have to say it is panic attacks i have them and i get them so bad that i have to be hospitalized because my whole body shuts down and i cannot not function anti depressants are something that you may want to talk to your doctor about they are a great help to minimize the panic attacks but remember it takes 6 to 8 weeks for the anti depressant to build up in your system so do not give up hope hang in there and good luck to you

Sounds like a panic attack except for the metallic smell. A metallic smell or taste is a symptom of a brain tumor. Have a MRI immediately. The rest really does just sound like a panic attack. They can seem like a heart attack or a stroke. Its quite scary. They can also come on without warning and be caused by some issue left unresolved from 30 years ago.

I believe its panic attacks. I have panic attacks too. I found that I traced my first anxiety attack and led to the reason it happened and then when I would go around the stuff that caused my anxiety attack I would have one again. Since I stay away from it I dont have em. So maybe you should suggest that. Also I take very deep breathes and try to clear my mind when I think I feel it coming on. I dont have smells, but I have all of the others. Sometimes longer than a minute.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

You probably are experiencing panic attacks. The symptom of a stroke is when one side of your body goes numb and you cannot feel one side of you face. Presidents Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt all died of massive strokes. Panic attacks are terrible, but with help and as you get older, you may have less panic attacks. A mild anti-anxiety medication for a period of time may help, along with talking out your feelings with a therapist may help a lot. Stay positive and you will one day feel better. I wish you all the best.

GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!

I have panic attacks (also take meds for it) and normally something has to tigger it, like a job interview, a big test, or being near people. I have never had a metallic taste or smell.

If you have money go to the DOCTOR, if you don't, I am sorry, but this nation won't help you.

thats really weird. a metallic smell...what do you mean by feeling a rush? if i have to chose between the two i would say panic attack since they didnt find anything when they conducted tests on you.

it doesnt really sound like a panic attack either though.

I would keep having tests done until you find out what it is.

Highly unlikely to be a stroke. Look up stroke symptoms so you will feel better about that. It's probably a panic attack but you may want to look at environmental sources, medication (especially on empty stomach) and stomach, sinus or tooth trouble.

get tested for hepatitis c...they have to run an antibody test because sometimes in a normal blood lab liver panel the alt and ast levels will not show an increase. good luck.

(liver disease=unability to filter toxins=causes misfires in the brain and also toxicity buildup=pannic attacks)

sounded more like a panic attack until you state the metallic taste and problems with speech.....be tested for stoke level or ms......

do not delay - seek medical attention - for every second with stroke counts

best wishes!
