I know this girl and she came into work today and was covered in bruises. I asked her what happened and she told me that her boyfriend got mad at her and started pushing her around, and eventually threw her into a wall. My question is how do you offer support without knowing this person very well?

Tell her if she ever needs to talk u r there..women like this believe me r hard to figure out i use to be one..sometimes if u offer help they r scared. sometimes they really should have their parents help them get out of the bad relationship. then other times they are so scared they dont talk to anyone especially another guy..pray for her ..and pray that maybe she will talk about it on her day off over some lunch these situations are tough..make sure she doesnt write your number down..have her memorize it..I was in multiple abusive relationships ..it is tough getting out of them and tough not repeating them because u keep attracting the wrong types..if it gets too bad tell her to call a womens shelter in the area...

From personal experience, years ago, (I got smart) If a woman is getting abused, and she wants help, she will ask for help, otherwise, I would probably not get involved, there are plenty of shelters ,and people she could go to, but in order for her to get the help she needs, she has to want to get away from the abuser. For example, you could get involved, and put your own self in danger, and afterwards, she may run right back to this guy.

Well, maybe she told you this becuase she is embarrassed to get help from a professional. I would definitly talk to her more and get her to trust you, then ask her if you can help in anyway (without getting primarily involved). You definitly can't let this continue.

just say something like "you know you deserve a better life and if there is anything i can do to help just let me know and i will do what i can for you"until she sees this she will stay with him,so all you can do is be supportive in any decision she makes

Ask her if he gets mad often. Sometimes you can not help someone that does not want to help themselves. Had her a brochure on domestic abuse.

JUST BE THERE FOR HER AS A FRIEND, THE FACT THAT
SHE TOLD YOU MAY BE A SIGN THAT SHE NEED HELP
AND DONT KNOW WHERE TO TURN. SO CONTINUE TO
TALK TO HER. MAYBE YOU CAN GET HER TO TALK TO
SOMEONE, SHE NEED TO GET OUT OF THIS SITUATION.
