Probably not. I don't need the solace of religion to live a happy and hopeful life. I have however known many religious people to commit suicide.

No, I've got bipolar disorder so I get suicidal for other reasons. However, I must admit that I was much more depressed when I was involved in religion. There were so many wrongs, so much guilt, worry, pain, restrictions, dogma's, stupidity in it all that I couldnt' deal. Once I was free of any belief in religion I was released from that horrible darkness that it put on my life. Now I live for my own reasons, not reasons that some stupid God made me follow.

For whatever reason you choose to ask your question in an intellectually dishonest way. If it was unintentional my apologies, but that is how it reads.
Your question falsely assumes a 'strength' to people who do not follow a religion and a 'weakness' for those who do.
You may not agree with all religions (my guess is that you don't even really understand them), but their goals are ultimately to transform the mind in a positive way.
Now, you may think wanting to be a better person is a sign of weakness, but that's exactly like saying someone who exercises is weak because they feel their bodies could be in better health. Just because they are *seeking* better health, does not make them less healthy.
And that is why your question is intellectually dishonest.

Nope I have not committed suicide. I know several people who were Christians who committed suicide. I am an Atheist and I can handle my life struggles on my own I don't need a god to do that.
