Hey Angie! I too have many physical challenges. I won't go into them all, but my spine has a C-curve and I also have degenerative osteoarthritis. Ouch! I have found the best exercise for myself to be water aerobics. Also just being in the water, moving around, gentle swimming (no Olympic training now!) gives me a good warm up and cool down as well as just making me FEEL better. Also, PT can be very good for all your problems, but I can't promise it won't occasionally hurt a bit. A good physical therapist can also recommend good low impact exercises. Angela, I am so happy to know you are doing this. It is another sign of growth and determination to take back. I too am going through attempting to lose some weight. So far I have lost about 30lbs. YEAH FOR ME! I still have about 70lbs to go so girl you'll get there before me! I wish many many blessings on you. I'm very very proud of you as well. If you don't lose the weight quickly or at all for that matter, don't you go thinking you've failed. This sure isn't the first time for me or anybody else trying to lose weight. Remember, E-mail me anytime! Love ya - fatmamais50@yahoo.com (LOL)

Tai Chi is a very slow moving exercise.
Very calming and relaxing.

Stretching will help you not only loose weight, but tone your body as well. Most people do not realize that stretching actually helps them loose weight.
Stretching also helps with the pain. Because the muscles become stiff when they ache.
It is like a natural reaction...when there is pain, it tightens.

It is important when you stretch, that you do it very slowly, and that you feel the stretch as you are doing it. Because some people end up stretching too a point that they create pain.

Practice what is comfortable for you and your muscles will start to become more toned.

Even a soft ball in your hands will stretch your forarms.
It's all about pulling. (but gentle) until you build up your strength.

Start off slow, then go further when you can.

huggggggggggs...got to give you credit. You have a lot on your plate to deal with and your not giving up.

Something done in a heated deep-water therapy pool. The water will support your weight, the heat will soothe your aches and you can work out almost effortlessly. Call physical therapy and rehab centers in your area; ask if they have a pool and if they sell memberships. Cheaper than a commercial gym and much healthier.

I would recomment using a recumbent bike. It has support for your back. Also doing exercises on a swiss ball would be beneficial also. Working with a personal trainer would probably be best, as he/she can show you how to exercise properly and safely with your conditions. There are hand weights called "heavy hands" that allow you to use them without gripping them with your hands. They are ideal to use on upper body exercises for your wrists, arms, shoulders, etc. Good luck!

If I were you I would look into any local indoor pools or gyms with pools and water aerobics classes.

You might want to go to a physiotherapist, or a gym that specializes in that sort of thing.
