Why Vietnam war a civil war?

When the U.S caused more destruction and casualites than North and South together?

The Vietnam war was a civil war to the Vietnamese people. .

North Vietnam and the Viet Cong were fighting to reunite Vietnam as one country. The South Vietnamese and the millions who fled from the North to the South did not want to live under communism. The war was fought between North and South Vietnamese until Johnson decided that he wanted to pick a fight.

Truman, Eisenhower and Kennedy sent troops to Vietnam, but they were military advisors. Johnson sent the first actual combat troops over and took the war away from ARVN (South Vietnamese Army). Johnson micromanaged the war from D.C. and made rules of engagement so ridiculous that the war unwinable.

Johnson's number crunchers in Washington D.C. are probably more responsible for the massive destruction in Vietnam during the war than the B-52 pilots dropping bombs.

Not sure what you are asking but yes, I think everyone pretty much agrees it was a civil war between North and South Vietnam.

Nope, USA always made wars with everyone in this world.
USA called so many names that so bad in listing - vietcong, osama, saddam, mujahideen, taliban, hizbullah, fatah etc.

But one similarity answer is that USA has many foes. USA people has no intention to be friends with rest people of the world but to kill and invade as much as they can as Hitler done in WW2.
