Exactly, and why do they have George W Bush at their helm launching wars on innocent cilivilans. Christianity is perhaps the most unpeaceful religion there is. Made a mess of Northern Ireland too.

I guess that I am not the ideal person to answer this question, as I am not a Christian anymore, but I do have some small experience with the subject, so I will try.

The answer is simple, but most will probably take offense to it.

Christianity is not peaceful. That is their lure. Christians, however, DO think their religion is peaceful. This is, of course, because in this day and age, violence is not an acceptable form of religious fervor. In days when these phrases were coined, Christians (as in The Crusades), used any means necessary to convert others (whom they considered savages), to the "word of God". They actually saw killing the "savages" who wouldn't convert as an act of mercy!! According to what they had been taught, anyone who did not live by the word of god was already doomed to a living hell, so why not give them release and kill them? They made them (the ones who actually would do it), recant their "sins", profess their faith in and love for the one true god before they were killed, in order to soothe their own consciences. This way they could believe that the "savage" has been saved by the word of god, and would therefore go to heaven and be much better off.

It really is not the Christians' fault, they've just been brainwashed for too long. Tolerance is the answer. Others must have tolerance for Christians, just as others would have Christians have tolerance for them.

My personal theory on this is that Christianity was constructed by the Roman aristocracy as a "Slave Management System". They were, I suspect, taken completely by surprise when it started spreading into other sectors of society. When their own children started converting (eg, St Augustine), my guess is they were utterly horrified. And that would be the point, when they frantically started trying to rewrite the damn thing.....

I don't believe they ever intended it to be a mass religion. If they had, obviously they either wouldn't have put in all the pacifist and proto-socialist stuff that lefties love, orrrr (more likely) they would have chosen a completely different sect to promote to the status of society's foundation stone. The likeliest candidate for the honor in that case would have been the Cult of Mithras, or if not them, then that of Sol Invictus. Both were aristocratic warrior faiths far better suited for the role of State Church of a great empire than an absurd slave religion like the Jesus cult....

Living, as we do, in a clearly uncertain world, we nevertheless show bravery in many small ways.We identify this as being 'a soldier' within.

Soldiers (of Judaic law) arrested Christ and brought him to the Sanhedrin for judgement. These were not Roman soldiers.

This tells us there have been and still are different kinds of soldiers.

In like manner, we illustrate our lives in that we too become 'soldiers of Christ, when we go about the business of our daily lives.

We see a reflection of this when looking at the lives of countless early Christians martyrs who willingly died for their faith - brave soldiers of Christ accepting death for their beliefs.

The martyr was therfore a soldier and clearly a 'defender' of truth, or Christian state of being.

The term is metaphorical... Christian "Soldiers" means people armed with nothing but their belief in Jesus Christ's boundless love for all humankind - and prepared to "fight" only to spread the word (via the Bible) of unshakable faith in the goodness of God.

Take a look at those Christian Armish people in Pensylvania, whose little children were slaughtered in their schoolhouse only last week... See how peaceful they are, even in the depths of their tragedy... THEY are Christian "Soldiers"...!

Just compare that Armish dignity with the violent reactions of so many non-Christian agitators in our midst, who rile and threaten bloodshed at the drop of every hat and every imagined insult in the name of their own twisted icons.

See what I mean...???

WOW-JUST WOW!!!
I go to Beth Israel worship center!!!
I am a Gentile.
The church is made up of Jewish people who have takin Jesus Christ into their lives!!!
We have Jew and Gentile side by side!!!
THE JEWISH PEOPLE LISTEN TO ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS!!! AT BETH ISRAEL!!!
I'm sure you know the history of how the medieval Christians slaughtered the Jewish people with that song.
I'm also sure that you are ignorant to the fact that WE turned that evil song into a good song!!!
Christianity is about changing things from bad to good!!!
EXAMPLE:before I knew Christ,I smoked cig.
after I stopped smoking cig.
Before you post questions like this,it might be helpful to do a little more research into the history of words.
THIS IS WHY I APPRECIATE ATHEISTS SO MUCH(your not one)REAL ATHEISTS DO THEIR HOMEWORK BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS!

Most people in the world today and you sound like one yourself, confuse Christianity with religion. The two have little in common.

You have written about things that religious people have developed. There songs and their theologies along with their dogmas are all man made not God oriented.

I would kindly suggest that you spend time in the Word of God everyday. Just a few minutes to start will gain you so much rewards.

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ, God's Saviour as your Lord then you need to do that now. Listen, this is the final generation that will live in the flesh. This generation will see the antichrist the false christ appear on this earth with all his angels and they will torment everyone who does not have the Seal of God in their foreheads.

He will be here for 5 months and then Our Lord Jesus Christ will arrive. Its all in the volume of the Book. All the answers to all your questions are waiting there for you and all of you that read this.

Christianity is getting to be a bad word today, and its because of churchinity. A tool of Satan. True Christians do not do the things that people say they do in this blog.

So do yourself a favor and also everyone you love, go to the Word and read it to show yourself perfect before the Lord. I plan to be in Heaven and be a co-heir with Jesus Christ as per His Word. I would like to see you there as well.><>

The "battle" is of spiritual nature, not of flesh and bone so there is a need for soldiers because it is a battle the same just in another realm

ever since the Islamists began trying to invade the entire world , the Christian nations have fought them off. So it's often been a matter of self defense.

We make war against the unseen world of evil and darkness. We are always with the whole Armour to fight against our enemy.

Ephesians. 6:
11 Put on the whole Armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
