Is there any truth to the story that it was once legal to kill Chinese immigrants during the railroad period in America?

Let me add some details. The rumors I have heard was that the laws stemmed from the Chinese taking over railroad labor during the exodus of Chinese from China during their opium wars with Britain. According to one of my Chinese friends, some politicians from New York rallied up the white workers, won seats in government, and made it illegal for Chinese to be on government land or in government buildings. Then they shot any Chinese that didn't leave. The Chinese word he used for the people make me think they called themselves the "Labor Party" or the "Working Man's Party" or something like that. He seems to know too many details to be making it up.

well in the 1870 there used to be an association called the 'anti-coolies association ./ supreme order of the Caucasians '
which boycotted Chinese business and caused riots in Chinatowns all across the west , causing many Chinese to fled to china and others to go to San Francisco where they created the largest Chinese community in the USA .

there also used to be an organization called the "workingman's party" in 1877 which caused several violent demonstrations in San Francisco .this association was led by an Irish immigrant called Denis Kearney who used the Chinese immigrants as scapegoats .

i would like to add that all of this was done in the name of ' we do not have jobs because they are doing the jobs we could be doing ' and yes there were several demonstrations one of them happening in los Angele's were several were murdered by angry whites and Mexicans ( which makes me sick being Mexican ) .

i found all of this in an interesting website about the Chinese history in America however i did not find anything about being legal to kill them but I'm sure many were murdered and that those who committed such crimes were not given the proper punishment .

to all of this i just can say that I'm sorry that it ever happened :'(

it wasn't legal but it did happen alot thru the 1800's.. they were enslaved and put to work mining and for the railroad..some that were free worked the railroad laundry and started there own shops catering to the settlement of the west.. make note that most were undocumented and no account of them was possible..they were also damn near wiped out because of the opium trade that was pushed under ground! when they weren't used for slave stated status they were paid so poorly you may as well say that thy were inslaved due to the long hours they had to work..but the murder aspect is untrue as to it being legal, but alot were and that's the facts! people on here need to know a little about history before jumping to conclusions..

If so, it was legal to kill the white man immigrants from europe in the first place.

So the USA soldiers who killed the Red Indians are criminal are criminal and the USA government was a illegal government like Israel in Palestine.

No, but that doesn't mean many white men were charged with anything when it happened.
