I've heard that English is based partially on Latin. Of course I know that Latin is a dead language, but I've heard that some people speak Pig Latin. How different is it from English? Is it harder than French?

Hmm..okay. Wow. So, English is actually based on Latin. It's about 60% Latin based and 40% German based. When you say English is based on Latin you are still including Latin based languages like Spanish, French, Romanian, Portuguese and Italian. There are six romance languages, one of which is English. So chill everyone. Pig Latin, however, is not a real language. It is merely a code that some people use. You might have heard it in movies when characters say 'ixnay on the upidstay'..it actually means 'nix on the stupid'..nix, by the way, is a Latin word meaning none. To 'speak' in pig Latin, just chop a word in half at the first vowel, put the front part behind the end part and add 'ay' at the end. If you were to say 'that was a somewhat silly question' in pig Latin, you'd say 'atthay asway a omewhatsay illysay estionquay.' So..no, I'd say pig Latin is easier than French..but it's not a real language, no one speaks it really, and you won't find it in any schools.

I hope you're joking.

The English language is NOT based on Latin. French, Itallian, Spanish, and a few others ARE based on Latin.

I assume you know what Pig Latin is, but if you don't, I'll tell you. It's a "let's pretend" language. A joke. It is not a real language.

French is not a particularly difficult language to learn from an English perspective. French is a Catagory 2 language on a scale that goes up to 5. English and Japanese are both Catagory 5. Russian is a 4.

Pig latin is just a silly language that you put words back to front. Like Eyem skay ick say..."I'm sick". It's not a real language. And my opinion is anything is easier than french. Come to think of it, I don't believe I could learn any language....it just doesn't get past the hard parts of my head!

Pig Latin is easier if you can find the right tutor. I mean, for animals who spend all of their time rolling around in the mud, pigs are pretty snobbish about whom they talk to!

The French are pigs

English is actually a Germanic language and is a conglomeration of many languages. With a lot of French influence in the grammar.
