I seriously feel like most people genuinely do not like me. I feel like when I'm around, people do not see me or do not want to talk to me, etc. This has happened all my life, now that I look back. Even when my kids misbehave, they don't listen to me unless I am yelling and screaming.

Oftentimes it isn't volume or force that commands attention but the ability to speak with confidence. Speaking clearly and disallowing them to regard your words as wrong is the key. You are correct. That's all there is to it. Have conviction in your speech and be assertive.

I feel this way alot too. It seems like in a group of people there is always someone more outspoken, or more attractive that always gets the attention. And I feel like I don't have alot in common with others. Like for instance, the ladies at my sons preschool all act like soccer moms that are always on the phone and driving $50K SUV's or Mercedes, or BMW's. And they look down their nose at me. I know exactly how you feel. It can be a lonely feeling sometimes. Maybe you need to find some folks that you have more in common with to be around. This helps me sometimes. As far as your kids are concerned. Super Nanny Jo Frost has helped me ALOT!!! Read some of her books. Her techniques are awesome. Good Luck!

You really aren't alone. When I was in the military I was late to formation once, and on-one notice. I used to work in the motor pool and I was locked in more than once because I was working on something and my Sgt didn't notice I was still in there.

I could go on and on how people walk by me and never see me.

Take it as a blessing, maybe when a crazy person starts shooting their won't notice us.

I used to feel that way too when I was younger, but now I finally feel visible, I wish I really were invisible. That or the rest of the world was invisible.

It sounds like you need to be less of a shy girl, and more of an assertive girl. There are loads of self help books on that subject, and you could even go to therapy and get help that way too.

How we feel about ourselves really shines through to other people. Do you like yourself? Do you like to spend time with yourself? Do you make a point to talk to people or do you hang back and avoid contact? Your focus determines your reality.
