a religion that that says I'm going to be punished with an eternity of pain, suffering, and torture?
Whenever I post comments poking fun at just how absurd and retarded christianity (along with all other religions) really is, I get some people telling me to respect it. My question, why? It says I'm going to burn in this place called hell for all eternity. Why should I respect that belief? What harm will making fun of it do?
Oh, and I really don't care what that sissy, momma's boy thinks either, so don't quote any propaganda from that stupid, little book full of fairy tales you guys love :)

Tina,
I see no reason whatsoever to consider the notion of a hell nor afterlife for that matter as anything more than something about of mythology.

I think that respect is a pretty big deal. I see exactly where you are coming from, Christianity drives me crazy for the same reasons(and no I am not of another faith or religion) The difference is I still have respect for the religion because I think there are good things to be learned from Jesus Christ himself, not organized religion. Weather it is myth, folklore or pure bullshit Christianity, along with other forms of religion, have SOME good points on how to live at peace with others and to just be a good person in general. No I don't think it will be detrimental to your well being to make fun of it but you should try to have an open mind and take what you can from all things. O and if you are a decent and honest person I do not think you will rot in hell so you really shouldn't worry about it so much, i.e. that is exactly what they want you to do. Make sure you read this while you are drunk and then again while you are sober.

Don't respect Christianity then. No problem. However, there are different takes on the whole schbang.
Jesus was a pretty cool guy. But Jesus is one thing. Christianity another.
Have you read "A Course in Miracles"?
I feel a lot more comfortable with the Jesus of that book. And it's taught that God does not punish. God wants you to be free of suffering.
If "Christians" want to believe their little hate-filled fairy tales, just let them. However, there are some decent Christians out there who see it all in a totally different light.
Not all Christians are American Southern Baptist Born Again Paranoid Homophobic Warmongers.

It's not the religion you need to respect.
It's the right others have to believe and practice their belief that should be respected.
Just as you would respect any one to have their own views on something they need to respect your right to your views.
As to what harm poking fun will do----- the harm comes in the form of hurt feelings. Just as you would be hurt if someone made fun over someone you love.
And just to clarify I do not believe in Hell.
I think the Bible is a story with some truth thrown in (there are historical documents that prove some of the stories contained in the Bible as well as some scientific evidence).
Most things that really get people angry concerning religion are the man made rules.

I think the point is that it's best to respect everyone equally. Our beliefs may not seem to make sense to you, but to us it is reality, as with any other religion. With so many religious people around the world, it would seem you think most people are retarded for believing in whatever they believe. Hmm. that doesn't seem very open-minded. Maybe you're missing out on a lot of good things religious people may have to say about different things, because you focus too much on thinking religion is stupid.

Why can't you allow Christians to believe our beliefs, without making fun of us? All you are doing is making a fool of yourself, showing how scared, and immature you really are. If you cannot see why you should not respect others feelings, or beliefs, than it only shows how immature, and disrespectful of others you are. Maybe you just need to mature a little to understand this. Until then you will only continue in these silly games you are playing.

Make fun of it all you want. You don't have too spend eternity in pain you have a choice. You can keep poking fun or you can except it for what it is. It's not to late for you, hopefully you will come around, and if you don't then you made your choice. No-one has to spend eternity in a place of pain and suffering because they have been given an out, it's clearly spelled out for you. You can either except Jesus into your heart and have everlasting life or you can reject him and as you say be punished with an eternity of pain, suffering and torture. It's that simple. We don't make fun of your choices and wish you wouldn't make fun of ours. God Bless!!!

If you are refering to Jesus being a sissy.....you are truely wrong. Jesus died for everyone one the cross so we can be saved. If you do not repent of your sins and believe that Christ Jesus died (and rose again) to save you, the you are surely going to hell.
Hell was never meant for us. Hell was meant for Satan and his followers (demons). God can NOT allow sin into heaven, therefore you MUST seek forgiveness and trust in Jesus to save you, or hell will be your destination.
Christ isn't willing that any should go to hell, but if you don't accept Christ then you've already chosen your detination already by not choosing.
I do hope you make your peace with God so you can have an eternal home in heaven. That is my prayer for you. AMEN

You should show respect because it proper. What ever you do or do not believe in you want that to be respected. As to the burnin in hell, that's the way it's written.
I personally would rather believe and be wrong, that not believe and be wrong.

You don't have to respect any religion nor do you have to believe in it. You don't have to lower your self to those standards to make fun of it neither. You can point out things of which you find as flaws in those religions. I am an Atheist and I don't tell anyone what they can believe in I just don't want them trying to push their beliefs on me. I point out things I find as flaws in their religion when asked about it.
