Do you have a child? Even if you are married, if your income is low, you may qualify. Call your County Health Department and find out if you need an appointment...and find out where to go. You may be able to look up your state's requirements for food stamps on the Internet. I'm sorry I don't know the web site. They will probably need a copy of your and your husband's latest pay stubs, a copy of your last phone bill, gas bill, water bill, electricity bill, insurance bill, rent receipt, and maybe a daycare bill or receipt.
Find out when you call what you need to bring with you. I really don't know, you may need a copy of your child's birth certificate...and you and your husband will need your drivers license and maybe your social security cards. Be sure to find out who all has to go to apply. Just you... or you and your husband....and do you....for any reason..need to brings your child or children along.
Good Luck. If you need it.... you owe it to yourself and your family to apply for food stamps.

it depends on what your state's welfare dept. qualifies you. it varies by state. Contact your local welfare dept and apply for benefits if you require them.
It is there to help you get back on your feet NOT as a lifestyle. Most people assume that if you are receiving welfare $ or food stamps you are lazy-IT IS JUST A STEREOTYPE!!
let the BS slide off BUT remember only you can improve your situation welfare just keeps you down.
For all the haters out there lay off.
I was briefly on welfare when my child was a baby then I got myself together and got a job--I have more than re-payed what I got-so unless you have something helpful or useful blow it out your ****.
welfare is there to help those in need it is not meant to be a career and just because some one is on welfare doesn't mean they are lazy or any other narrow minded name you can think of.
have some empathy for another human being that is struggling.

I don't know why any one would get mad at you for asking a reasonable question. You need to find the qualifications for your specific state. They are usually given to people of low or no income who meet certain criteria. Just call your local Dept of Social Services and they should be able to tell you. It is usually based on income , amount of people in household, bills etc..

It depends on your income, how many are in your family and a few other things. You need to call your county health department tomorrow and tell them you need information on food stamp benefits. They can give you all the answers you need. Make sure you have a pen and paper when you call though, because you will need to write down information. Also, when you have your first appointment, you will need to take your child(ren) with you.
