Rajan - you are right. It is more like a military ideology - always recruiting warriors, always calling its recruits to attention - five times a day to be precise, with military precision. Any dissent is dealt with with a court-martial like chopping of the head in the bazaar. The only salvation for mankind is when every koran is rounded up and burnt and expunged from the face of the earth.

I don't agree. I think it would be more accurate to say that Islam is being used by people with a certain political ideology. Many will follow the call of God even when the person saying God is calling is actually lying. Zealots of ANY religion use faith as a weapon against whatever they perceive as undesirable. Islam, like every other religion I've heard about teaches tolerance, love, honor, respect, and understanding. Unethical people twist the word of holy texts to their own ends, usually to the detriment of the people that follow them.

If you make an effort to study Islam in it's truest form, you won't be making this reckless conclusion. Anyway Muslims have themselves to blame for their behavior have caused such an impression. People judge a book by it's cover, but not it's content.
I advised you to pickup the Quran, and go to the local mosque and learn from the right source. I'm not forcing you to convert, just learn and be respectful to other people's faith.

Communism at least had some political theory behind it. Radical Islamists (not all Muslims by any means) simply do not see the point of having a government at all; they just want to run society directly and without much organization.
