Small can mean so much to so many. It is not just the size but the glycemic load associated with the food. Great snacks are fruits (quantity really does not matter when consumed in a strict low glycemic plan) unsalted nuts, whole grain pastries (very tough to actually find) Things to stay away from white bagels, low fat crisp puffs, and chips...etc. The reason for low glycemic food is that it digests into your body at a good rate so your insulin can keep up for proper placement of energy and not just store it as fat. I usually eat (in a day):

Breakfast:
1/2 of a whole wheat english muffin
1 fried egg (the yolk fully cooked)
1 slice vegan cheese
1 slice vegetarian lunch "meat"

Snack: an apple and some string cheese. Or something.

Lunch:
A salad with less than or equal to two tablespoons of regular dressing. I usually use about 1 tablespoon of it at most.
Carrots.
Yogurt (nonfat vanilla).

Snack: 1 Zone bar.

Dinner:
Whole wheat pasta, vegetable stir fry, vegetarian frozen dishes by Amy's, etc.
8oz milk.

I eat some raisins with dinner occaisionally.
Sometimes after dinner I'll treat myself to a nonfat pudding...depending on whether or not I had my usual grande nonfat doubleshot caramel machiatto. :-x

I usually drink about 60 ounces of water a day. I'm pretty petite so I think that's a good amount.

Half your usual portion. A good rule would be to make it the size of your fist.
