The doctor will prescribe something to you that will be effective. Nexium works well or generic zantzc etc.... but they will also tell you to shed a few pounds and stay away from certain foods that cause abnormally high amounts of acid in your stomach. I used to eat antacids like candy day in and day out until I decided it was time for a change. I now eat healthy low glycemic meals, excercise a little and take my nutritionals. Guess what I rarely ever need to take an antacid or wake up in the middle of the night with that nasty burning in the bottom of my throat.

I also have acid reflux and my doctor gave me an excellent medication for it. It's called Aciphex. I took it for a long time and it worked great. I have recently changed to Nexium, which is another great one to use. You take them once in the morning and you should be able to eat whatever you want with no problems. Good luck.

PROTONIX PROTONIX PROTONIX!!! I have acid reflux also. Protonix works like a charm! I used to be on a different medication called Nexium and that did not help. Protonix is the best for me, but it could be different for you. I would recommend Protonix.

If you try Protonix or Nexium I hope you have good insurance, they are expensive! If you don't have insurance, your best bet would be Prilosec OTC.

I would suggest weight loss and digestive enzymes. I believe in getting to the cause of something instead of treating the symptom
