3 per hour? It's a lot higher than that! There are over 3 million births worldwide per year. Some years it has been over 4 million. There are about 31 million seconds in a year. Therefore there is a birth approximately every 10 seconds, or about 360 births per hour.

About the same number of people die every year, from all causes. A natural disaster that kills 50,000 people would only affect the typical yearly birth rate by about 1.5%.

Population growth is far more than 3/hour. It's about 203800 per day, which is almost 8500/hour. It's almost impossible to be certain, though.
