I am 39 and still single. Whenever I run into old boyfriends, ex-fiances, love interests from years ago, at some point in the conversation he will inevitably say I can't believe you're not married! I just knew somebody would have snatched you up. . .something to that effect. After years of this I have decided that this is code for something, but what? The guy usually brings this up

Don't worry, tell them I'm actually happy yhe way I am and enjoyonh my single life, amrried life is complicated...sinlge is being free, free as a bird to roar where u please. Yes I know it may get lonely at times, but ur honey is just around the corner. Stop looking and them htey xcome....

They are basically asking you if you are single. Bcause if they came out and asked if you were single and you said no then they feel awkward almost like getting turned down from asking you out.

It's supposed to be a compliment. Personally, I find such comments patronizing.
I would see it as code for "clod."

They are like 'damnit I missed my chance....." Obviously you're still looking hot and enjoying life and feel they are missing out which to an extent is true
