Give me some examples of how the "religious right" is somehow involved in, and ruining your life. I really don't understand when liberals start fretting and wringing their hands over this supposed "religious domination". Examples please? I'm open minded...

Wow! I'm seeing a couple of thoughtful responses, but mostly it's just ad hominem attacks on ME (?) and some conspiracy theories involving the Bush Administration.

I was asking for something SPECIFIC from your OWN LIVES. How has the religious right affected YOU? Maybe there are no specific answers...just bitter attacks on Bush and conspiracy theories?

How about limiting the day after pill? and not allowing homosexuals to marry? or letting pharmacists not to give people legal contraception because of religious beliefs? Why aren't they vaccinating every girl age 10 and over with the HPV vaccine- which is proven to prevent a certain cancer? (because then they would have sex? BS!) and teaching ABSTINANCE ONLY?
That enough for you?
Why do they hate sex or seem to think that God does? And that they should legislate their beliefs into other peoples sexual lives and freedoms?!

There so self righteous and said if we could we would eliminate abortion. There is nothing to stop them. More abortions were preformed during this administration than any previous.
But what they did do is wait until the boys were 17 and sent them to Iraq to die in a foreign country for what. Most rich people start wars but the poor boys die in the fighting. We are forced to call stuff what they want. They want prayer in school but it has to be their religion. They want to take a pagan tree and we can't call it a holiday tree, no, it has to be a Christmas tree. When it doesn't have anything to do with Christ. They are control freaks.
They say they are against gays and they hid a pedofile.
They rob from the poor to give to the rich. They ruin the unions and drop wages to make the middle class not have a living wage.
they lie about the reasons we went to war. And just about everything else.

John Adams, as president, wanted to shut down opposition. It was the worst political decision he made. It overshadowed all of the good he did as president and he was not elected for a second term. The administration is upset because this memo got out. I am upset that this memo was ever distributed to law enforcement agencies. It is not the first time this kind of nonsense has happened. And it is not limited to the Democrats. But it is a threat to our freedoms and I hope it backfires on this president. I have a lot more respect for John Adams.

Ever hear of the Iraq war?

Our President is on record as saying he does not ask for his father's opinion on the Iraq war because he listens to a 'higher father'.

Now, the 'religious right' may not want to take responsibility for the Iraq war, but they are the ones who voted this guy into power and supported him in this war.

So, just so we're clear, the 'religious right' is *responsible* for the Iraq war and all the deaths associated with it. *You* voted him into power.... twice.

Christian 'Dominionists' (Reconstructionalists, Theonomists) have largely usurped the local level political apparatus of the Republican Party, and are engaged in a sub rosa process to politically motivate moderate Christians under the false cover of religious issues such as morality and family values, under cover of front organizations like the Christian Coalition, the American Family Association and the Promise Keepers. The goal is nothing less than the takeover of all elective offices in the USA.

Their doctrine comes from the Bible, starting with the term 'dominion' at Genesis 1:28... “And God said unto them, [Adam and Eve] Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have DOMINION… over every living thing.” They interpret DOMINION as: “... a supremacy in determining and directing the actions of others or in governing politically, socially, or personally.”

They want to remake the USA as a theocracy... and they are succeeding.

Its most common form, Dominionism, represents one of the most extreme forms of Fundamentalist Christianity thought. Its followers, called Dominionists, are attempting to convert the laws of United States so that they match those of the Hebrew Scriptures. They intend to achieve this by using the freedom of religion in the US to train a generation of children via home-schooling and in private Christian religious schools. See: JESUS CAMP http://www.apple.com/trailers/magnolia/jesuscamp/trailer/ Later, their graduates will be charged with the responsibility of creating a new Bible-based political, religious and social order. One of the first tasks of this order will be to eliminate religious choice and freedom. Their eventual goal is to achieve the "Kingdom of God" in which much of the world is converted to Christianity. They feel that the power of God's word will bring about this conversion. No armed force or insurrection will be needed; in fact, they believe that there will be little opposition to their plan. People will willingly accept it. All that needs to be done is to properly explain it to them.

All religious organizations, congregations etc. other than strictly Fundamentalist Christianity would be suppressed. Nonconforming Evangelical, main line and liberal Christian religious institutions would no longer be allowed to hold services, organize, proselytize, etc. Society would revert to the laws and punishments of the Hebrew Scriptures. Any person who advocated or practiced other religious beliefs outside of their home would be tried for idolatry and executed. Blasphemy, adultery and homosexual behavior would be criminalized; those found guilty would also be executed. There are two conservative Christian pastors in Texas who have advocated the execution of all Wiccans.

By failing to openly confront this insidious agenda, we have sown the seeds of our own destruction, while these religious wing-nuts are paving the way to Armageddon with gleeful anticipation.

"Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder." ~ Arnold Toynbee

Liberals are, by definition, supposed to be tolerant and open-minded. Apparently they forget that when faced with someone who has different values and beliefs.
