Methadone does not impair cognitive functions. It has no adverse effects on mental capability, intelligence, or employability. It is not sedating or intoxicating, nor does it interfere with ordinary activities such as driving a car or operating machinery. Patients are able to feel pain and experience emotional reactions.

It could just kill you in which case the high would be short-lived. There was a primetime television show about a woman who died on a cruise because her boyfriend brought his Methadone onto the ship in a cough syrup bottle so as not to get caught. She may have taken the cough syrup by accident. A little bit of Methadone can be deadly to people who are not previously addicted to certain drugs.

My husband was on it for two yrs.Dr.'s prescribed it for pain ,along with hydrocodone, and others for muscle relaxers.
I know at that time he was depressed alot, but I believe some of it was due to being in constant pain. After he didn't need them anymore he weaned himself off without rehab, which is what Dr. suggested of coarse,it wasn't pretty,he went thru all the withdrawls, but in the end he won.But I don't really remember them ever making him feel like he had a high.

it doesn't give you much of a high

neither does morphine or buprenorphine

I guess it could be either depending on if you got the euphoria (upper) effect or the relaxation (downer) effect

I think it'd be a downer, cos when I give it to my patients, they don't get much euphoria

I would guess it would be most like a downer. Saboxone might be safer.
