My 14yr old came home and told me there is a bomb threat at his school and his brothers school.I have 2 4th graders and a jounior high and a high school child that goes to these schools. All the schools is on a 56 acre lot.I called the school. The principle said yes there is a bomb threat but had the attitude that they have had bomb threats and their school is still standing. He just had a crappy attitude.I found out from the police department that there was a bomb threat at the school last week. The PE teacher found a threating letter in a locker but forgot to give it to the office and took it home and just gave it to the office today. The bomb threat was suppose to be for the Home coming which all the children from all the schools on campus attended. This home coming was last Thrusday. What kind of discipline do you think this PE teacher needs for keeping the letter until after the threat was over with? Also the principle said there was a bomb threat but did not say it was for last week.

as we all can see it never happen but I think 1 would be a fool to read the letter and say it was just a hoax.Alot of kids do say and write dumb things but alot do carry out their plans.no one even knows if a child or a adult wrote it,it was in typing.

I also think that the PE teacher should be reprimanded for his actions. NO ONE knows for sure these days. I also think that the principle should take his job as the leader more seriously. His tone and behavior on this matter is not acceptable. HE nor anyone else knew if the bomb threat was real. He also in dangered the lives of many children ( the very children that he is there to protect). I also think that with the way things are going and the lack of support in the public school systems that more parents will consider home schooling their children to insure their safety and well being. (including myself). I would like to commend you for speaking out and voicing your opinion. You maybe the only one with the backbone to stand up for the children in this situation. So many parents put to much trust in schools to protect our children, and don't realize that it only takes ONE mistake.THIS could have been the one.

It's possible that this truly wasn't a "real" threat -- and that the PE teacher used his own judgment to decide not to report it. That could've been within school policy. Schools have policies on this kind of thing -- and you have the right to review all school policies. If you don't like the school policies, you have a right to speak your mind and to go through a process to lobby for change.

It seems like you have a problem with the way the whole issue was handled and the way the principal answered your questions.

If the principal won't be forthcoming or seemingly accountable to just one parent, let him attempt to be accountable to the whole community. Go public with this. It would be a good time to find a local journalist who will take on the story in either the newspaper or the local TV news.

Put your facts together -- what you know, what your sources are, what was told to you by the principal, the police department, etc. -- and then give the journalist your information.

If you don't want to get that drastic, then go to the next PTA meeting and tell your story. There should be "new business", or something like this on the standing agenda, when it would be appropriate for you to speak to the group.

Principals do have to be accountable for their actions and for the way they carry out school policies. You may not like the decisions they make, but they do need to clearly communicate them to you.

when we were in high school we had a few bomb threats but this was 18 years ago. With the way America is and all its school shootings i would have thought it would have meant an immediate evacuation of the school while the police came to check the school. The P.E teacher needs a talking to by the police thats for sure. If i lived in America homeschooling would be a must for me. With all the shootings and things like this I wouldn't allow my kids to step foot in a school

It's a scary situation. Especially with the 3 school shootings alone last week.

bomb threats are very common in schools now, if you want to make them safe home school them, if you are intelligent enough. no one needs dicipline but the kids who are totally insane looking for attention and negative attention at that, you get a crappy attitude these days teaching school to a bunch of little thugs.
