Go to a campground that has cabins. There are many. Convenience of home, no outlay for gear, BATHROOMS!

You will still have your fire pit. Many state parks and private campgrounds have them. We go often.

Have fun!

We like fall, best time for fires.

What state are you in?

Camping is fun with two year olds! Kids love being outdoors.

Definitely think state parks and nearby bathrooms. Also consider the mosquito factor depending on time of year and where you live. You don't have to bathe depending on how long you are out there.

Bring regular outdoor toys like bubbles and balls. Bring some sort of jar or bug house so you can collect and release bugs. Outdoor art supplies or just a coloring book and some downtime toys are good too. Baby wipes are great, even if your child is toilet trained.

In addition to the traditional smores, my family like to bring Honey Buns and heat them over the fire (Little Debbie I think)

2 years is still a little young for the real camp sites, they could wander off or get bite by wild animals....i would set up camp in my back yard and make it as close to the real as i can...if you do not have a back yard, ask a friend or family that does to let you use their yard for a couple days...it will be more child friendly and safer
