the question is who's say's she should gain weight, depending on the breed some dogs are really slim and slender and if she looks too skinny then she should go to a vet, for proper care.. if a vet is not a option then sometimes adding very small handfulls of a high quality puppy food to your dogs food will help and feed her/him 2 x's daily... but dont over do the puppy food...

It really depends on the breed, as others have said that have gone before me.
But, are all his ribs showing, his spine showing? Some dogs the last rib is is fine and small waists.
Have you wormed him?
Do you feed him enough? Decent food as well.
Is he losing weight or just not putting it on?
How old is he?

The list goes on, it would be great if you could clarify some of these questions so that your question can be answered.

If the answers to the above are ... yes, yes, yes, losing and any age ... take him to the vet

Addition:

Is it large breed puppy food? He will need that
Are you feeding him twice a day? As he is a boxer he is still growing

Get the dog checked for worms - round worm, tapeworm, hookworm and whipworm and also have a heartworm test done. If he is negative for all of these, change the food. Do not feed table scraps under any circumstances. They get used to them and won't eat their dog food. I have 2 Boxers and feed them Flint River Ranch food (available on the internet and expensive) and mix 1/2 can of mighty dog canned food per dog and they are thriving well.
Good luck.

They make special weight gaining food, he also may not like the food he is getting. If he is not eating at all you might try different foods and maybe take him to a vet it could be a tooth ache ot something like that too.
There is also a possibility of being sick or a tape worm so if he is eating and will not gain you might take to the vet just in case.

Get a Vet check! Is it a puppy that is not thriving or an adult dog that has started losing weight? Your question was pretty vague! But, if it is a puppy that is not thriving have him checked for worms and/or parasites.

Have you taken Rover to the vet? If the vet thinks he's underweight, then the vet should also have told you what to do to help Rover pack on the pounds (or ounces, depending on the breed).... or at least you shoulda asked what to do...

If it's just your opinion.... I'd need to know the breed, age, medical history, etc. of your dog.

You didn't say what type of dog it is, small or large. If she is eating well and doesn't appear sick then she's probably very healthy, but if you are concerned check with a vet.

My husband works for a pet food distributor and they say to buy the food that has chicken as the first ingredient instaed of the cheap food that has corn as the first ingredient. you have to buy it at at pet store. My animals only eat Eagle Pack. it is expensive, but worth it.
