The best suggestion I have for you is to get some kind of identity theft protection. There isn't a lot out there and what is offered by your credit card companies will only help you with the credit cards. Identity theft can mean someone commits crimes in your name or gets medical care in your name. It can be a mess!

I know of a service that for $12.95 a month will monitor your credit report and any time an Experian report is pulled, you get notified via email. In the event that someone has wreaked havoc on your identity, this company will assign a licensed investigator that you give limited power of attorney to, and they will restore your identity FOR YOU! You won't need to spend hours on the phone cleaning up your life because of some other jerk out there.

Identity theft is the biggest crime on the rise because it is so easy to NOT GET CAUGHT! The mobs use it as well, I mean think about how easy it is for a murderer and thief to continue with life on someone elses information! Identities are bought and sold every day. Once your information is out there, you are seven times more likely to become a victim again because your information just circles till it can be used again.

I have the information regarding this company if you'd like to contact me. I'd love to help you out!

Good luck.

There is nothing you can do until something happens. Try not to worry. My husband had his pocket picked and lost his ID cards and his credit cards. Luckily they only used the money. We cancelled all of our credit cards immediately.

Don't wait for something to happen! i have known people that have gone thorugh ID theft and it is horrible. Put a hold on Credit cards, alert your bank, contact as many people as possble, but defenitely don't wait for something to happen!

you can call any of the 3 credit reporting agancies and they will put a 90 day freeze on any credit applications. Contacting one of them will put it on all three.

Experion, Equifax (and I forgot the other).
