I can trap a mouse in my house. Is it okay to trap a muskrat or an opossum? What else can I kill? Anything with horns?

In Texas you need a license to even hunt. That is to be out on the 'range' with a weapon during hunting season. Taking game is governed by rules other than 'permit;' example, you can shoot javelina without a tag but there is a limit. Other game requires a special 'stamp;' turkey, for example.

You can shoot coyote or feral hog (Texas record is something like 800+ lbs. for hog) without a tag, but you still need a hunting license unless you get them 'off-season' as a 'target of opportunity.'

Like someone else said, just get your license. The license fee benefit parks & wildlife, anyhow. There are years when I purchase mine and don't even get to hunt.

If you get caught killing something without a permit. All you'll be killing is time behind bars just buy a permit. You even need a permit to trap in most places

You can hunt and kill an exotic, non-game animal (as this is not considered native wildlife) without a permit. Largest I know of is buffalo at Ted Nugent's ranch in Michigan.

Unfortunately all the big animals are in Africa.

Forget the traps - just use your car (it'll be like a video game), I don't think there's a permit classification for that...and it really expands your options.

Get a hunting license. Take the safety course and you'll learn a great deal. You'll have a lot more fun hunting than catching mice in your house.

Nancy Pelosi. You'd go to jail but you'd go as a hero to a large portion of the US.
