my friend met a guy online and has been talking to him for 6mo. a few weeks ago she went to another state to met him. (i didnt know at the time). she says she is in love and goes on about how she knows "its right"...now as a friend i gave her my advise and told her i thought she was crazy and that there is no way she could love this guy just from talking on the internet and meeting him one time, love doesnt work like that. i have been with a guy for 5yrs and love him but it didnt happen overnight, or over the internet. i just dont think she knows what love is. am i wrong? could she really love him? am i just too optimistic?

First of all optimistic means positive what you said wasn't a very positive thing to say.. seccond of all .. I believe she could have found love over the internet.. sometimes somethings start off small and then they end up bigger than you'd ever imaggine them to be you know... itz possible and unless you think that this guy is abusing her or that she is indanger I think that you should stay outta her love life uless she asks you not too .. don't get me wrong here i'm not trying to offend you but who are you to tell her that she hasn't found love ( I seriously don't mean to offend you by anyway when I say that), six months is a long time and alot of things can happen in six months. Have a little faith in her I mean alot of times people get set back because we dont give them space to evolve on there own.

YES she maybe in love with him, if you think that in a way meeting someone online is easy because you can say what you like to each other, get to know all about each other before you meet, ask or say things you wouldnt say face to face, online you can chat all the time & get to really know the person,

You are realistic. She's feeling infatuation.
Real love takes time to grow. One date in 6 months and lots of online chats may be the start of something, but it's not real love by any means. Not yet, possibly not ever.

They could be in love or the beginings of what could be true love. They will only know that from spending more time together but you as her friend should be supportive and be there if it does or doesn't work out for her.

are you her?...are you in her shoes?...if she tells you its love then by golly, it might be just it...love is a emotional feeling...its not physical...but just be there and tell her to be careful...some creeps can surface ....all things will reveal itself in the long run...love happens for people on many different levels...some people marry after one day ...and some take 15 yrs to get married...it just depends on the person ...and some want to leave their men after 9 kids ...(exaggeration, but you get the picture). I'm just saying trust what shes feeling...its impossible to be in her position...LOL...

Dear adams2401,

The internet has helped millions of people finding they soulmate!

The internet offers many tools for dating, specially if someone is kinda shy! They can talk to other people via Instant Message(yahoo,Msn,aol), Phone (skype) and they can see and know what someone likes and if it matches theirs (Myspace).

Technology is here! You need to apply it!

she should really be careful because over the internet people have false images. one time meeting no i don't think it's love more of infatuation.

its not important if you are right or wrong - you need to be a friend right now supportive and unconditionally - if you are wrong, you will laugh at their 50th wedding anniverssary. if you are right your friend is going to need a shoulder to lean on
