I don't know if Jimi did it personally, but I'm sure you can get someone to play it for you on an electric guitar. Alternatively Little Wing is a gorgeous song, Sting did a nice version of it.

I don't think so, but Brian May from Queen played it in "Flash Gordon" and it was pretty awesome. I wish I would have had that in my own wedding...
