Several things-- drinking too much caffiene (soda, coffee) can make your ******** itch. Hemmoriods can make you itch, parasites can make you itch. Have you switched laundry soaps or dryer sheets lately? It might be an allergic reaction to a new soap.

You didn't say what you do and the first thing that comes to mind is that (bicycle messenger, for instance). You also didn't mention your diet. Rather than spend a long time guessing, and if I were you, I'd want this solved yesterday, I would do three things:
Look on the web under "rectal itching" and see what comes up;
2) Make an appointment with a proctologist. If you don't know one, call your doctor's office for a referral.
3)Go to your local pharmacy now, and ask the pharmacist for what he'd recommend for temporary relief until you get in to see the doctor.

Is it actually inside of your butt? If it's just in your cheeks...unlike some people I'm going to be serious and say that sometimes when I sweat at work, my butt sweats too and inside my cheeks will itch. I don't use anything on it, I just let it dry out...but you could use some cream like that other person said.

This seems to be an epidemic! I'm serious! I see this question a lot!! It could be any number of things! Hygiene, worms, hemorrhoids, or even a venereal disease! You should probably have a doctor look at it! It could be something serious...

They have stuff at the drug store for this, i think its called tux or tucks, Not exactly sure but it exists. I had a friend who every timrecame back from basic training would get this.probably from sweating and the material of underwear irritating the butt hole.

If it itches most at night you may have pin worms. DOn't worry, they're really common and all you have to do is call your doc. and he/she/ will prescribe you these little pill thingys.

Wash it and soak in a hot bath. If it keeps bugging you get some cortisone cream.
